Registry question

If I register for the medela bottles and pump do I need to register for other bottles incase I can't breast feed? Or can u put formula in the medela bottles? I feel like this is a stupid question but.... Figured I would ask any of you STMs!

  • I don't know the answer to this, but just wanted to tell you to check with your insurance company.  There's a new law that requires health insurance companies to cover breast pumps.  One of my friends got her $250 Medela pump in the mail totally
    4 years TTC including countless tests, 2 surgeries, and one failed IUI
    Scheduled IVF for April 2013--SURPRISE, don't need it! DD Born 9/7/13 
    Ectopic pregnancy Sep/Oct 2014 ended in surgery, and many trips to the ER
    Miracle #3: EDD 11/28/16

  • You can use the bottles, but I think they don't come with nipples and the ring that holds them on. You will probably end up trying several bottles and nipples to see what LO likes. I would have something in hand, but if you plan on BFing don't go crazy.

  • Almost everyone that I've come in contact with agrees that the Medela bottles that come with the pump really suck. Mine leaked horribly and the nipples were stiff and not at all like a natural nipple.

  • My M was super picky about bottles.  If you pump you will need some.  We had four ( I work 12 hours days) and that was plenty for us.  But... it tooks us 8 different bottles before we found one she would take.  I would recommen

  • As a pp said, the medela bottles kinda suck. I know plenty of people who have used them but I never used them for more than pumping into, and some other cheaper bottles will attach to the medela pumps too if you don't always want to use the bags. I bf but
  • Medela bottles are crap compared to other brands. I personally would register for different bottles....you can pump into the medela ones and just transfer the milk. Odds are you'll have to transfer anyways since you're not going to pump exactly what you w

  • I just wanted to pop in and say that my Medela PISA came with several bottles and nipples, and I tried those first for serving pumped milk, and DS did great with them, so we never bought another brand.  Once I went back to work, he got pumped bott

  • Awesome tip re: insurance! Just checked and mine federal bcbs covers the ameda double electric. Fingers crossed that it has favorable reviews!
