Ingrown Toenail/Antibiotics

Hi all

 My son has an ingrown toenail and is being treated for it with antibiotics.  The toe is red but no puss or anything.  I hate giving him antibiotics and just hope Im not over treating him.  He is also on an antibiotic cream.  I feel as though the dr is just putting him on the antibiotics as a precautionary.   Most drs are antibiotic happy.  Anyone else ever deal with this?

  • Our son had this too when he was under 1 and we were told to use antibiotic cream and warm compresses.  It cleared up within a week so we didn't need antibiotics.  Perhaps you can start with warm compresses 4-5 times a day and then apply the cre
