DS1 is alnost 2 years old and is currently rear facing in his marathon. DS2 is already 29 inches so he will be outgrowing his infant carrier, which has a height limit of 30 inches, very shortly. We were initially going to buy two more marathons so we could both have one in our cars, but then I saw the Frontier 85 in the store. It seems like we could move DS1 into a Frontier and it will last longer since it can turn into a booster. Whereas if we bought the additional pair of marathons we would have to buy a bigger Frontier type seat anyhow in a few years (since the marathon has a height limit of 50 inches and our DS1 is off the charts for height so I am guessing he will outgrow the seat before I am ready for him to be in just a booster without the five point harness) before moving to a booster. My hesitation is that the Frontier seems like such a "big kid" seat. I know the manual says it is ok for a two year old, but it just doesnt look as snug and cradle-like as the marathon. I am also a little nervous he won't be able to sleep in the Frontier since it doesnt recline. Anyone have any thoughts on moving a 2yo into the Frontier?

Re: Britax frontier at age 2 as safe as marathon?
If you are planning to move him forward facing, then either seat is equally safe. A forward facing convertible isn't any different than a forward facing harnessed booster.
If you want to continue to rear face him, you'll have to go with a differe

I did know the Frontier was not supposed to be used until your kid is 2 among other requirements. We decided to return the Frontier seats and buy two more Marathon seats so that both will be RF and we will keep DS1 rear
