1st Trimester

Freaking out

I went to bed last night with such bad back pains that I put a heating pad under my back for a while, but I ended up falling asleep and rolling onto my stomach while it was still on. I'm 6 1/2 weeks pregnant and now I so worried that I may have hurt my baby or caused spina bifida or something. I know it was really stupid! My mind is getting away from and I'm freaking out!

  • I'm not worried about the fact that I was sleeping on my stomach. I'm worried about the fact that my stomach was against the heating pad. I've read that it's important not to overheat the baby especially in the first 3 months when neural tube development

  • I wouldn't make a habit of it, but one isolated incident is not going to harm you or baby. I would generally advise refraining from using heating pads during pregnancy. I have severe back pain problems and I find that a warm (not piping) shower and mas
