My co-worker and I commiserate on Mommyhood together. We probably spend half our time talking about the lack of sleep, teething, strange skin conditions, etc.
She was at Starbucks last week with her baby in the Ergo. Baby S hadn't slept for a good 17 hours and had been crying non-stop. My friend needed to be around people and get some coffee. She goes in and all these hipsters and non-parents are giving her the stink eye for bringing her crying baby in. And apparently my friend had this embarassed "Let me get the EFF out of here look". And this woman came up to her and shared that she had lost her little girl a few years ago. And that she'd give just about anything to be in Co-worker's position. She told her "You are living my dream, remind yourself that you are living someone's dream on days like this."
She shared it with me and we both cried (at work, so professional!!). Next morning my kid is screaming on the way to Grandma's and it was just too early for that. And I just kept saying to myself "You're living the dream, you're living the dream". It really helped. I'm all about mantras and words to live by so I get down on stuff like that.
I just read that awful story about the mother who jumped to her death WITH her baby. (Baby is fine). So I felt I needed to share that with you all today. It's helped me so much when Baby T is tripping and getting all crazy. He really is my dream even when he's a terror.
Have a Great Weekend Ladies!

Re: You are living the dream
So true and such a great reminder! Thank you for this!!
I thought this a LOT after the Newtown shooting and still think about it often. Whenever I'm tired or stressed or overwhelmed or wish I could just spend longer than 2 minu
I'm going to print this up and put it under my other one, "The goal is not to be perfect by the end. The goal is to be better today."
I love these little mantras...
