And are you starting to worry about taking it away?
At his new daycare, DS doesn't have a paci at all, not even for nap time. But at home he seems to always have one either in his mouth or carrying a handful around. We try to keep them in the crib but he pulls them out. We try to keep them in a "special place" during the day but he climbs to get them. They're like his loveys. I sometimes joke we could take all his toys away and he'd be happy with just his pacis.
I want to try to start weaning him off of them, though. Right now I just think we need 3 in the crib (yes, 3, because he sleeps with 1 in his mouth and 1 in each hand) and keep 1 in each car to stay in the car... But I don't even know if THAT is possible.
If he can do without it at daycare you'd think he could at home, too. But it almost seems as if not having it at daycare (at his old dc he still got a paci at nap) he's more attached to them than ever at home.
Off to read up about quitting the paci habit...
Re: Who has a kiddo still using a paci?
O was exactly the same way until about a month ago. He constantly had one either in his mouth or in his hand. We couldn't even cut down to "just naps" or "just bedtime" because if he could see them he would try to get at them and cry and po
Dumb question, but how did he learn to nap without it? That's what I can't comprehend. At daycare DS only naps for like 2 hours. On the weekends he naps like 3.5 with his paci! I need to ask his teachers on Monday how they get him to sleep paci-free. I
He only has it for sleep time (naps and nighttime) so I'm not terribly worried, but DH and I discussed this week that we'll work on it this summer. <
My little man at 0-1-2
N has one for bedtime still. I can hear him sucking it all night too - it doesn't fall out with sleep! I think he'll keep it awhile. To get it down to just bedtime I did this: If I catch him with a found one I say excitedly, "Oh
Brooklyn still uses one but at daycare they just leave it in the crib and if she finds it she does. We haven't had a very easy time trying to get rid of it. She has addopted another habit when she doesn't have anything to sooth her. She like to stripe
Our LO also doesn't use one at daycare. Our DCP took it away one week when LO was flinging it out of the crib (she was congeted and frustrated with it) and then just never gave it back.
Our Pedi says a binkie is okay until age 3, but with a new
DD still uses one but only at bed time. At the sitter's house during the week she doesnt need it at nap time nut at home she does.
I am not sure how or when we will ween her from it. The use is minimal so I am not too worried.
Hazel uses hers for her nap only, she hasn't used it at nighttime since last summer. I keep it in a drawer in her dresser so she never sees it, although she knows where it is kept. She takes very long naps, typically 3-4 hours, but without it, she'll n
