Swelling.....HELP!!!!

OK.....  So it seems that I swelled up like a water balloon over night!  I noticed yesterday that my feet were really swollen.  Then in one of my trips to the bathroom over night, I noticed my hands are extremely swollen, so much that the skin is stretching and it kind of hurts.

Is there anything I can do to help with the swelling?  I know I probably won't get rid of it, but anything to help a little?

  • You could first try to drink lots of water--at least a gallon and lie down with your feet (and maybe hands) above your kidneys. It will take a while, but if it is just water retention it will go down.(With my first I swelled up after a day of traveling

Drink lots of water. Definitely monitor your salt intake.

I think you are supposed to get your blood pressure checked if your swelling comes on really suddenly and/or gets severe. It is a sign of pre-e.

  • Call your doctor.  Sudden, severe swelling can be a sign of pre-e.
  • Drink water
    Massage
    Go for a walk
    Cut back on salty foods

Sudden swelling can be a sign something more than water retention is happening, otherwise, it's pretty common. My hands and feet are pretty sore from fluids as well.

  • Drinking more water and eating water-based foods (cantaloupe, watermelon, cucumbers) has helped my swelling go down.

I agree with PPs that you should probably call your doctor.  I've only experienced swelling at the end of the day and it u

    Good luck!

  • Definitely call your doctor and talk to them about what is going on, they may want you to come in and be checked out and that never hurts anything. It can be a sign Pre-E, which is dangerous to both you and the baby. At the same time... don't panic. My sw
