Bathing Suits - sizing

I just signed DS (almost 1) up for a swimming class starting next month.  It's at a public pool and they say babies need to wear both a swim diaper and a diaper cover plus their bathing suits.  The bathing suit I'm thinking about getting for DS also has a mesh underwear lining so I'm thinking he'll need a little extra room to fit everything in there.  Do you generally need to go up a size in bathing suits to accomodate the bulk of the diaper and cover? I know bathings suits can tend to sag so I'm just wondering what has worked for others.  TIA!

I wonder why you need a cover over the swim diaper. I did go a size up but that's because I noticed with my first that bathing suits tended to run a little small on her.
