nursing 8 month old- possible wheat allergy

So we've been on a long road with my son's eczema that showed up around 4 months. I was gf/df for 2 months combined with a steroid cream for him. His eczema did improve, but not disappear, apart from a 10 day trip to FL where his skin cleared up completely. The trip has made me think his eczema has been aggravated by the harsh winter here in the north. I started to introduce dairy and wheat back into my own diet, and did not see any significant flare ups. Then, about 2 weeks ago we started puffs and his eczema has turned into a complete mess. So, i'm suspecting wheat problems after all. All this to ask, would you advise me to go gf again? would it help? my pedi is great but old school and i'm not sure what research is saying these days about nursing and allergies. any advice would be much appreciated! thank you!

Could it be a reaction to the flavor of the puffs: strawberry, banana, etc?
