Using straps in RnP and Swing

So just this week ( she is 17 weeks?) I started needing to use the straps in both as she started doing this skooch thing to the end and then kicking herself up so her hips jut up (quite fancy actually) but obviously a potential for danger. I know in rNp she is a bit confused as to why she is no loger in a warm cocoon of blankets, I don't think it bothers her in the swing How long have you all been using straps,, or do you?

Re: Using straps in RnP and Swing

  • We got the swing when Benjamin was about 3 months and used the straps right away. So he has nothing to compare it to. But he doesn't mind.

  • for a minute I felt like a bad person with the comment about "The straps are there for a reason"  But I know in a thread a while back others confessed to the same (not using them).....

  • Don't worry, you're not alone.  We didn't start using the straps until W started doing that same scooching thing.  Well, we went from RnP to crib, rather than try to strap him in while swaddled.  For the swing, we started on the day I found

  • Yep, one night he was fine and didn't budge, the next night I found him with his feet poking out over the edge.

  • We don't have a RNP but anything that has straps, minus the bumbo because I use that on the floor and I'm sitting right there at all times, we use the straps. They are there for safety, and the way kids learn to do things all of a sudden, not something I

  • H was 4 months yesterday and I finally strapped him in his swing today. I put him down in it like always do, went 2 feet over to our patio door to let the dogs in, and when I looked back at H he had his feet dangling over the edge from skooching  dow

  • I have a cradle swing and haven't felt the need to strap her in yet.. Same with Rock n play. She's miserable in car seats because of straps. No help her but you're not terrible!! I do it too and know others who are the same.

  • I've always strapped him into the swing, due to the nature of the item, but didn't strap into RnP until he started arching up in it. He's only in it during the day when we need to set him down (we don't have a bouncer, it's his only seat) so he's not goin

  • I've always used the straps for a few reasons. 1) I would never forgive myself if something happened. 2) ER copays are expensive and if he fell out of the swing or bouncer I would take him right away. 3) Due to his acid reflux he has been arching and flai

  • We just started using straps in our bouncy seat and cradle swing. You aren't the only one.

  • Don't have a swing, but we've just started using the RnP straps too 'cause she tries to arch her back and/or does crunches while she's in there... Mostly I'm thinking it's just a sign that her RnP days are basically over since she now wants to sit up all
