Outgrowing Clothes... What to Keep?

My LO is 5 months old and I'm going through all of his clothes trying to figure out what to keep and what to give away. (I have a friend who is going to have a boy soon). My husband and I will probably try for another baby in a year or so, so I'm wondering how many of these clothes I should hang on to. I know we will probably buy new stuff, esp if we have a girl, but some of these clothes are practically brand new and unisex. Just wondering what other moms have done and esp any of you with more than one child. Was it helpful to save anything for the 2nd one?  Thanks so much!

  • I'm keeping everything so far. If its too small it goes into a vacuum sealed bag with the sizes marked on the front and into storage.

  • Save as much as you have room for. I saved most of DD1s stuff and Im glad I did because now I pull out a tote of clothes (already organized by size) and have a short list of one or two things I might need to buy more of based on the season. Granted both o

  • I kept everything from DD1 and even after I had DD2.  Now we are pretty positive (or at least I am)  that we are done having children since we have DS now and I have started giving most of my stuff away.  I have unisex outfits that all 3 of

  • I didn't keep any of DS1's clothes and it wasn't a waste since DS1 is almost 5 years older than DS2. DH and I are absolutely done having kids since we got our 2 boys so I've donated his sleep&plays and onesies, but all of the name brand things that my

  • I kept everything! Yes, it was totally helpful. DD2 is wearing all of DD1's clothes.

  • I kept everything and I'm now just pulling out each sized bag for DS2 to where.  I had to buy some warm clothes because we travelled to Canada for Christmas but that is it.

  • I kept most everything that wasn't stained or faded. It has worked well for me because I have two girls. DD2 is much bigger than DD1, and is already outgrowing her 6 month stuff, but it is still so nice to not need to purchase very much.

  • I am definitely keeping every single thing, unless it's gross looking or torn. Even if I was "done" having kids, I'd keep them. You never know if you'll have an "oops" baby (unless you have a hysterectomy).

  • I kept the things I loved and the rest I either sold, gave to friends, or donated. I figured even if we had another boy I would want him to have some of his own new things and people would buy him stuff, plus I wanted to cut down some on how much

  • If you are planning on having another I wouldn't give anything away.  If you have the same sex you may be able to reuse a lot of those clothes if the sizing works out.  And even with the whole sizing issue, we were given clothes for a baby that

  • I saved everything. It came in handy, we didn't buy anything. He got some new outfits for Christmas, but there was so much from DS that he is good. They don't wear them very long, so I can't justify buying new.
