Is one side harder to pump?

Do any of you ladies have a side that is easier to pump than the other?  My right side is super easy to pump.  The milk squirts out in multiple streams for as long as I hold the suction when using my manual and I can empty it really quickly.  My left side, however, is a different story.  Milk just dribbles out and it takes FOREVER to empty it.  It still doesn't feel as empty as the right side when I'm done.  Thankfully, my double electric is a lot better and I don't have the problem as bad with it.  I just don't want to lug it out, especially when I have to take it to work the next morning.

Do any of you ladies have this issue?  What are some tips or techniques to help?  I rely on my manual a lot in the MOTN, especially if LO sleeps long stretches and I wake up bursting and have to pump.

  • My left side can produce 1 to 1.5 oz per pump session while my right dribbles between .25 to .5 oz.

  • I thought that it was harder to pump on my left side until recently, when I figured out that my left side just takes longer to have a let-down. Now that I know to just wait a little longer, I get about the same amount on both sides.

  • My left side produces half of what the right side does, sometime less than that. Not quite sure why, although the left side is slightly inverted. I don't think that has an effect though.
  • My right side doesn't respond as well to the pump. Massaging it while I pump helps.
