Advice...New

I have been lurking on the bump but have held back my first post as I am a little nervous being a FTM. We found out we were expecting on Feb. 3rd/13 and are over the moon excited. I ended up at the ER due to some cramping and light spotting. Doctor did an u/s to rule out ectopic, which thank god it wasn't, also said he was fairly confident that he saw a heart beat at this time I was only 5w along. He scheduled me for a more thorough u/s the next day as we have had a previous lost very early on. Went for the u/s where she ended up doing a vaginal u/s to get a better look. She also confirmed one baby and a heartbeat, did not tell me what it was. The next week we had our first prenatal appointment at 7w6d, where she also did an u/s as we were a bit nervous, she also confirmed a heartbeat and I could see that there was growth because previously you couldn't really see anything on the abdominal u/s and now I could see it loud and clear. My question is with us seeing the heartbeat 3 seperate times does our risk of miscarriage go down? Also, had some more spotting, can this be normal? I am currently 9 weeks and due Oct.16/13.

Any advice is appreciated!Smile

  • My doctor said spotting is actually pretty common in early pregnancy. If you have so much blood that you need a maxi pad, that would be cause for concern. Or if you have heavy cramping paired with blood.
