Insurance Frustrations

I work for a really large company... they have great maternity/paternity benefits, lactation rooms, reimbursement for adoption and are nationally ranked as one of the best companies for working mothers.  They seem to be all about the family, yet there is nothing to help us out who are struggling with infertility. Irritating! I just got so frustrated today when I was digging a little deeper into my insurance plan to see some of the odd things that are covered.  I've been considering writing a letter to my HR department about our company not covering infertility.  Thoughts...?

Also curious, does anybody live in any of the states that fertility coverage is mandated?  Wondering how that all works.

DH: 28 - Slightly abnormal motility & viscosity
Dec '12- Feb '13: Clomid/HCG = BFN
Mar '13: Femara/HCG/HSG & IUI #1 = BFN
April '13: Femara/HCG/IUI #2 = BFN
May '13: Clomid/HCG/IUI #3 = BFN

    I live in I'll where it's mandated that if you have more than 50 workers you most have some IF coverage. For us that meant testing only. : some mandate. I hear Massechuests is much better.

    BFP! Beta 1:104 @ 10dp6dt, Beta 2:178 @ 12dp6dt,  beta 3:366 @ 14dp6dt
    Saw heartbeat twice before missed M/C at 8w3d on 12/27/13, missing my little angel boy
    JUNE 2014 IVF#2;  5R, 2M, 1F Three day transfer 6/7.  Beta 6/18 - BFN
    Child Free Now?
     S/PAIFW , S/PALW

    I live in Illinois where there is a mandate.  We initially had coverage according to the mandate through an HMO at H's job.  Unfortunately they eliminated that plan.  We now have no coverage except for testing.  There are a ton of loop

    Insurance is so frustrating. My current insurance is through DH's employer, which sounds like your's. They cover all testing up until the diagnosis of "infertility." Once you hit that, you are OOP.

    Have you spoken to an insurance rep or your
    TTC #1 since May 2006 - We thought we were done in 2010, but we are back again!
    PCOS (anovulatory and amenorrhea) and hypothyroid.
    Currently taking Metformin 1500 MG and Synthroid.
    Prior HSG and DH SAs were clear.
    Feb 2013 - Switched clinics/RE and starting from the beginning again with some modifications.
    Current status: CD 3 appointment showed lining was too thick (11.5 mm). Endometrial biopsy scheduled for CD 11. Next steps will be based on results.

    I'm in NJ and we have a mandate. I also work for a large medical group in NJ which has about 300 physicians, tons of RNs and PAs.  I thought my coverage would be better but it isn't. Only diagnostics are covered. I asked about the mandate and thos

    TTC #1** Went off BCP July 2011

    Me: 31 DH:31


    Jan 2012 Dx PCOS by OB/Gyn


    July 2012 - Tests with RE confirmed PCOS and annovulation

    2 rounds of clomid, 5 IUI's using clomid + injectibles. 

    Surprise BFP while on break cycle due to cysts.  It's a girl! Baby "E" born on Thanksgiving Day 11/28/13

    September 2012: Start IF testing

    DH (32): SA is ok, slightly low morph, normal SCSA  Me (32): Slightly low progesterone, hostile CM, carrier for CF, Moderately high NKC, High TNFa, heterozyogous mutated Factor XIII, and +APA

    October 2012-May 2014: 4 failed IUIs, 3 failed IVFs, and 1 failed FETw/donor embryos

    November 2014: IVF w/ICSI #4 Agonist/Antagonist with EPP and Prednisone, Baby Aspirin, Lovenox, and IVIG for immune issues.  Converted to freeze all due to lining issues.  2 blasts frozen on day 6!

    January 2015: FET #2 Cancelled due to lining issues

    April 2015: FET #2.1

    I live in Mass. I have complete infertility coverage office visits 10, all "procedures" 0. We have an onsite pharmacy at my job and any and all medication are 4 regardless of what the drug is. This even includes expensive drugs for cancer, MS and antivira

    TTC since March 2011. All bloodword, SA & HSG are normal.  
    8/12: Clomid & TI - BFN 
    10/12: Colmid & TI - BFN 
    3/13:  Clomid, Trigger & IUI - BFN 
    4/13: Gonal F, Trigger & IUI: BFN  
    6/13: IVF #1 (1AA blast & 1BB blast) = BFN 
    8/13: FET #1= BFN
    10/13: FET #2= BFP!!!
