Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Sippy cups?

In my Everyday Family email for the week, it mentioned starting LO on a sippy cup.  Is anyone else doing this?

I always thought they stayed on bottles - at least until they can reliably hold their own bottle/cup/etc...

Re: Sippy cups?

  • I wouldn't worry about it. We didn't start sippies till way after 12 months with the older ones.

I've bought a sippy for DD2 (7m) but havent used it cause, you're right, she can't hold her own bottle yet so it's pointless.

  • We started trying sippies with DS when he was around 8 months. It was mostly just practice since he couldn't get much out of it. We would put water in it and try it throughout the day. I think around 11 months he was really good at them.

  • E is REALLY interested in drinks and cups, she will lean over and reach for your glass with both hands. She does try to hold her own bottle. So we have started giving her a sippy cup of her own.  She can hold onto it, and sometimes she can get it to

  • Sippy cups were suggested to us at 4 months. We purchased some but have yet to try them yet. I don't feel like DS is quite ready.
