3rd Trimester

What's a "good" blood pressure?

Before pregnancy, my blood pressure hovered around 116/64. Never had a problem with it. Early in pregnancy, it hung around 106/62. Now, at nearly 32 weeks I've been feeling...off. Bad. I can be sitting or laying down and all of a sudden my heart starts beating really fast, my head feels a ton of pressure like a hot air balloon, and I just feel bad. I thought about my blood pressure, so I've been checking it and it now hovers around 144/86. Which really isn't too high...its been nearly that high in the doctor's office before and he hasn't said anything about it being concerning. Maybe I'm just extra tired, and that's why I'm feeling odd? I don't know. Any of you ladies having blood pressure issues?

  • not having BP issues this time, but I was told that any # (on the top) over 130 and (on the bottom) over 80 is approaching high.

  • Agree with PP. Anything over 130/80 is high.

  • 140/90 is considered high in pregnancy. They're usually more worried about the bottom number. At that BP I was considered borderline and was watched carefully with my son. Might be worth a call to your Dr.
  • That would be considered high blood pressure. I would call your Dr for peace of mind. Your top (Systolic #) is too high. Obviously I am not a Dr but call them and see what they say.

  • I had a couple of spells like this as well but my BP was fine. My Dr. said it could have been brought on by low blood sugar or dehydration too.

  • Yesterday at my dr appt my bp was 130/90 and he was concerned enough to run a blood panel to investigate a little more. I would call your dr just to be on the safe side.

  • I would be more concerned about the fact that your BP is so much higher than it was at the start of your pregnancy--more about that than about the actual number (which is a smidge high, but not horrific). However, the fact that you are also feeling lou

  • I am currently on bed rest for high BP. As several of the women have said anything over 140 on top or 90 on bottom is considered high, anything approaching that is a wait and watch. I am like you and usually run on the nice and very low end, so when I

  • I am having Hight BP complications with this one and they are more concnered with the bottom number and my doctor said anything over 90 is of concern. They monitor top too he just has not said what exactly it should be around. I had this same complicati

  • My numbers are both usually under 100 but I'm on the low end of the spectrum normally.

  • Thank you all so much! I went in to see the doctor and voiced my concerns - he did tell me they are more concerned about the bottom number than the top. My urine shows no protein at all, no excessive swelling in my hands or feet/legs either, so he does
