We are still at three naps. I would just be happy to get down to two longer ones. DS melts down if he is awake for more than 2 or 3 hours. He is 9 1/2 months.
We still do 3 naps most days. But they are starting to argue more and more. When I try to go to 2 though I have 2 cranky pants... so I have no idea how to consolidate!
At 11 mos a lot of babies seem like they want to go to one nap, but don't be fooled! I read about this, and it was soooo true for us (our son is now 18 mos and on one nap, but it was a rocky road getting there).
Right before they begin to walk they seem to fight the two naps. Built up energy? Who knows? Once they start walking, they get tired again, and two naps occur more naturally.
From about 11 mos-15 mos we were caught in "two naps is too many, but one nap is not enough territory." I had to really be in tune with him, and ended up adjusting his schedule, tweeking it a bit for about 4-5 mos in order to hold onto one two naps, until he was ready to go to one.
I kept both naps at about an hour each. Yes, I woke him up. I used my instincts, and that's what got us through those tough months. When he really started resisting the second nap (taking 30 min + to fall asleep), and then his nights began getting shorter and shorter, we made the transition to one nap.
It took a month of him being really cranky and over tired from staying up longer. And he had weird night wakings and early morning wakings from being over tired from just one nap, but we stuck with it, and after a month, he adjusted and now he's firmly on one nap, and has been for two or three months.
It is an adjustment for a lot of kids, so hold onto two as close as you can get to 18 mos. For us, it was 15mos, but we knew he was ready.
Re: Consolidating naps
Hold on to 2 naps as long as you possibly can lol! I dread the day we go from 2 to 1, why would you be in a hurry for this to happen?
This! They will naturally consolidate between 15 to 18 months, I've heard, but dont force it. Hold on to 2 as long as possible.
We JUST moved to two long naps pretty recently so I'm holding on to the hope that it will be a long time before we are down to one!
My 22 month old niece still takes two naps and is just about to move to one nap so I really hope he takes after her!

Good luck! Gotta love these transitions.
