help with a creative way to solve this issue

we have a house rule that kids have to try everything on their plate for dinner. if they don't like something they're not forced to eat it but they have to try.

last week my son threw up during dinner as he had a stomach bug. he think it's from the new food he tried. everytime i ask him to try what's on his plate that isn't his preferred food, he starts crying and tells me he's going to throw up again if he does that.

any suggestions to help..i've tried telling him that the food is healthy, it will make him feel good and help him grow big and strong, etc but he's not buying it.

Why about waiting a few weeks and giving it to him aga

  • I don't have any help with how to deal with this, but I have definitely wondered what path my DH and I will take when we get to this point. In my family growing up, you finished what was on your plate or you didn't leave the table. For me, after being for

  • How about something like "It's very yummy! I really think you'll like it. If you don't try it, you'll be missing out." Then you take a bit and make yummy noises? I have to say this pretty much any time something different appears on Lydia's plate!

  • Just so you know what he's doing is totally normal. Even adults often aviod a food that they believe made them sick, even if there is no logical indication that the food was the cause. Some people will actaully get sick again if they eat the food becau

  • Leave him alone and he'll start trying things when he's ready.
  • I don't have any advice, but a story....when I was little, maybe 6 or 7?  we got McDonalds and after I ate my fries I threw up all over the backseat of my mom's car.  I'm sure now that I had a stomach bug but I always swore it was the fries and
