Naps?

Nolan's sleep has always been terrible.  I don't think he has ever STTN in his crib. Out of desperation, we started letting him come to bed with us.  We always put him down in his crib and DH puts him back down in his crib for any wake-ups before he went to bed.  If he woke up after we were both asleep, I would bring him to bed with us.

DH has been getting annoyed about the sleep habits so we hired a sleep consultant.  I skyped with her last night and she is convinced that Nolan needs two naps.  We switched to one nap about a week ago because he was fighting the first nap and didn't seem tired.  Well, I tried two naps today and he didn't sleep at all for the first one.

How many of your LOs still take two naps or are most people only doing one?

 Thanks!!!!

Re: Naps?

  • We are still on 2 naps.  I tried to switch to one and Landon was a mess.  He was clingy, crying, and a hot mess by bed time with only taking one midday nap.  I think we may try to transition to one in the next month or so since he is pus

  • We're still on two. Sometimes she fights the first one but she's a disaster without 2.

  • Addy still takes 2. There have been times she has fought one of them over the past 2 or 3 months but she always goes back to taking both again which convinces me she still does need 2. She also does not seem to take a longer nap if she only has one nap in

  • 2 here. Audra naps about 2 hours after waking up but that nap is consistently only around 1/2 hour. She then takes a nap around 1PM and that one has lasted anywhere from an hour to 3 hours (rare), average is probably 2 hours. She goes to bed between 7-7:3

  • Still 2 naps over here.
  • We still do two naps. She is a mess of we don't. But daycare sometimes only does one since that is what most of the babies in her class are doing. Makes for a cranky baby who goes to bed early.

  • DD has one "official" nap, from about 12-2:30pm.

However, we have about an hour commute to and from daycare (it's near my work) and she always falls asleep within 5min after getting on the road and I wake her up when we get to where we're goin

  • We were doing one nap as of about a week ago. But, my LO was only sleeping maybe 45-60 min max for the one nap. So, by the time 5:30'ish rolled around, it gets pretty rough. I put her down at 4:30 today, and she went to sleep without a fuss. I think we ar
  • Still on 2 naps here, 1 about an hour and 15 mins, one a bit longer. FWIW, the sleep consultant I spoke with said 15 mos at the earliest is her recommendation for dropping the 2nd nap, but I know each kid is is different.

Thank you!  The sleep consultant said to put Nolan down for the first nap at 8:30 am, even if he woke up at 7:30.  He fought the nap like crazy because he wasn't tired yet.  What is your timing for naps?  Thanks!
