3rd or 4th Degree Tear? TMI

TMI warning here. So some of you know I had really bad tearing when I had DS. The Dr called it a 3.5 degree tear. It has been 4 months and it doesn't hurt nearly as much as it used to, but I still have stinging and discomfort throughout the day. Things like showering, using the bathroom or after exercising cause pain. DH and I have tried to DTD only twice... Yeah. Still can't because it hurts so badly.

If anyone else had a bad tear, is it healed by now or do you still have discomfort as well? I'm thinking I might need to go see my OB, but I don't want to go if it's normal to still be having pain this long.

  • I can sideways relate. I had a second degree peri tear and I also tore up. It took a while to heal and sometimes I get a random pain. I have yet to DTD so I'm not sure what that's like. Are you still doing sitz baths, etc?

  • I had 2 second degree tears. We tried to DTD twice after 6 week appointment. It hurt a lot. I went to the gynecologist at 15 weeks PP. She said it was completely normal that things may still hurt because of scar tissue. It made me feel a lot better to get
  • I had a fourth degree episiotomy and when we DTD I can only get DH half in there before I'm at my discomfort limit. He's very patient and we try lots of lube to stretch it out but so far no dice. I don't have discomfort during the day though so maybe chec
  • I had a 4th degree episiotomy with my first child. I would call your dr if the pain is still that bad.

  • Definitely sounds like scar tissue that needs to be removed. Also called granulated tissue I think. Go to your OB. It's a quick fix! You shouldn't still be in pain. Although they should have noticed at your postpartum visit?
