Hi, all. Currently 31 weeks pregnant with my 3rd baby in 3 years. Both previous pregnancies were uneventful - went to term. This time, I have been on mod bed rest since 27 weeks, when I was hospitalized for my contractions. I had negative ffn, and my cervix was still long (3 cm) and closed. Looked like contractions weren't doing anything - just irritable uterus. So my drs released me on procardia, and told me to stay on bed rest at home. Since on bed rest, my cervix has held strong, and my contractions had gotten better except for when I got up and around. The dr said last week that I could be out of bed for about 2 hrs total each day. However, the last few days, I have had episodes lasting up to several hours where I'm contracting about every 10 minutes, so I've been a lot stricter about staying in bed. But even when I'm in bed, I still have them, especially in the evening. I'm hesitant to call the doctor because up to this point, the contractions haven't done anything to my cervix, so I feel like while they might be uncomfortable, they aren't really painful, and are probably harmless. I don't want to put the baby in jeopardy, obviously, but I haven't had any spotting or anything, and I don't want to overreact. Has anyone experienced anything similar?
Re: question about contractions w/out cervical change
TTC since May 2006. After 3 failed Clomid cycles, 2 failed Injectibles/IUIs, 2 failed IVFs and 1 failed FET, we moved on to adoption!
Last ditch FET resulted in BFP, and identical twin girls!
Yeah I would go in just to make sure. I wouldn't say it's overreacting, it's a change in what is usual for you!
I have an irritable uterus as well, and a couple of weeks ago I had something similar, where I'd be having problems when I laid down.
First M/C - March 2006, pregnancy not known about.

I have had the same thing, preterm contractions with no cervical changes, therefore technically not preterm labor. However my docs are much less conservative and while they offered me a shot of terbutaline, I was not put on bed rest and was told
Always Sunny's back b-tches!
