To Buy or Not To Buy

So I'm torn between whether or not I want to buy CD "now" or if I want to wait until after my shower. On my ILs side I am pretty sure that only BIL's wife would buy off a registry. My side seems to be a bit better. I already know that my sister bought me some prefolds that were super on sale at a BRU that was going out of business. My SILs might buy off my registry but with all the stuff on there is CD really going to be on anyone's "Oh I want to get that" list? I feel like I'm the only one that finds them super cute. When I show ones that I like to say, my mom, she's always like "you'll do that for a day. Don't ask people to buy you something you'll never going to use."

I mentioned all this to H and we came up with a modest budget that I can spend before the shower on diapers. I've already bought 2 dozen Dappi prefolds for $25 bucks and I'm thinking about getting some seconds/outlet covers and maybe some pockets if I can afford it for outings.

My main "concern" is that if I do get what I want it's probably a better quality/easier than what I would buy myself. I'll ask someone else to buy me a $18 cute diaper, but if I'm buying it I'm going for the $5 cheap cover that has mixed reviews or what my mom used. I'm guessing diapers aren't something that's "less is more," and more is more. So even if I "waste" money buy building a modest stash and the universe blesses me with a full stash of name brand AI2 or hybrids I won't regret my decision.

Thoughts?

  • What about a Cd registry? We did one and its listed on the shower invite

  • Did you have a secondary registry also? That's pretty much what my amazon one is. I have some specialty books, a wrap, and cloth diapers on it.

  • I put a few CD on my registry with DS and no disposable. I ended up receiving no CDs and a ton of disposables because everyone thought I was insane for wanting to give CDing a try. Nice huh?

Also, I always tell people who are looking to CD on a budget - go with some good quality covers and prefolds.&n

  • I am buying my cloth diapers myself because even though CDs are growing in popularity, they're still not the "norm" yet, and it's not what the average person wants to buy you for a shower.  Plus, if someone isn't a CDer themselves, it is very confusi

Another great cover that we love are the Thirsties Duo Wrap -they have a double leg gusset. We hve never had leaks with them with DD and we will use them for new baby too - infact I am just doing Thirsties plus prefolds for new baby. I have some flips too

  • I would get them myself, whether now or later but I doubt people will gift them. That was my experience anyway.

  • I just bought 2 imagine newborn diapers and one discontinued basic connection pull up cover to try out. For $18 I didn't think it was that bad. The pull up was only $2.50. They had a ton in stock so I'm assuming if I get it and it's not too bad I can g

  • If you buy CD through a coop or a buy sell trade group, they are a big cost savings. There are a ton on Facebook.

  • I'm buying all my CDs. This way I can look for bargains and don't have to worry about what site I want to purchase from. I seriously doubt anyone would buy me CDs for my shower anyway and that's ok.

  • For a while H was saying that he didn't want to buy anything for LO until after the shower or hand-me-downs. We are both the youngest and he figured that we would get everything that we needed second hand. This has been mostly true but I think now that

  • I plan on buying my own, although I did put some on my BRU registry. They only sell them online around me, so I'm not really expecting any. Most of my friends have expressed surprise and skepticism when I tell them we're planning to CD, so I

  • I am just buying them myself as seconds sales and things come up. This way they are much cheaper than what they would cost full price off a registry. Although I have a couple friends who have CD'ed or would like to, I don't expect to receive any CDs as gi
