Financially - How did you make the decision to SAHM?

What was the process you went through to realistically weigh if it was feasible? I realize sometimes it?s simply obvious...but I?m wondering how you weighed your budget and more importantly what number you were OK with as your leftover/disposable/or saved income? Did you feel ok being close to paycheck to paycheck or did you feel like you need a good chunk of ?leftover? funds each  month to feel secure? I couldn?t do paycheck to paycheck...but some people can, and I?m curious about how you came to that conclusion....

  • We would never and could never live paycheck to paycheck.

  • We have a lifestyle.  It's not meager, but it's simple.

We placed a lot of weight on our priorities, made sure those were covered and then got rid of the things that weren't worth sacrificing me SAH.

  • We have always budgeted around DH's salary, even before we were married. My income was pure savings and fun money. It was an easy transition to one salary; we just continue to be conservative spenders and don't put quite as much into savings as before.

  • We never discussed it, it was really just a given that I would stay home. Maybe because we're a military family and it's the norm here, I'm not sure. We live very comfortably on DH's salary and have great benefits so it's never been up for much discussion
  • For me the decision was only kind of made. After I got pregnant with DD, I started having some health issues crop up. I had to leave my job at 3 months and some of the health issues I still cope with today. However, if you notice my siggy, I work at home.
