Early dialation ?

I ended up in l and d on tues night at 2am after having frequent BH and increasing back pain. I was having infrequent registering contractions but they were immediately stopped by a shot of terbutaline.

When the nurse checked me she said I was just under 1cm dialated. She didn't seem concerned since this is my 2nd pg. my dr, who they called, I guess wasn't concerned either.

I have an appt tomorrow and I'm going to address it then. In the meantime, those who have experienced early dialation this time or in the past, are you on bedrest, limited activity, or no restrictions at all? I'm trying not to be freaked out, especially since DS was early.

You can be a loose 1cm for several weeks...in fact you can be 4 or even 5cm for several weeks and it's much more common in your second pregnancy. My friend was dilated to 4cm super early but still almost went to her due date.

I think it's pretty common for STM+ to be 1-2cm dilated. I know I remember reading that the cervix isn't as tightly closed for subsequent pregnancies.

Thanks everyone. I know it's normal. I'm just trying to wrap my head around it.

I've felt pretty good these past few weeks, better than I did with DS. I just wish I had psychic powers to know and prepare when this LO is coming!

You can walk around at 1 cm for a bit. But, the problem is if those contractions are making changes. I would definitely talk to your doctor and express your concerns. Praying for you and that there are not more changes for the next few w
