?'s to ask nanny/chid care provider

so I am looking into at home day cares and nanny services, have contacted a few and want to set up meetings with them.

do you have any specific questions you asked when determining your child care?

thanks--I am so overwhelmed and want to make a good choice... this totally panics me

    Since someone earlier quoted a post of mine and said "Where's the snark", I was tempted to reply to this post with a suggestion about asking for criminal records of past child abuse.

    In all seriousness, I found this to be pretty helpful. GL! I'm super overwhelmed by it, too.

    Oh! If you plan to CD, ask if they're ok with that, and if they're not, ask why. Some day care providers will not take kids who are CDd.

    I ~totally~ understand the panic thing.  Really, I do.  It's a huge deal.

    We've already decided on our home day care provider (friend of the family, thank God) and know their rates -- $190/week.

    The questions I still have to ask are:

    (1)  Do we have to pay them for their vacation time?

    (2)  Do we still have to pay when we're on vacation and our baby isn't in daycare?

    I think the answer is generally yes for both questions, but I'm wondering how ours are going to handle it.

    Also - and sorry to keep posting but we're in the middle of this too - ask what happens if the provider is sick or is out of town. Do they have a lined-up back-up plan for you, or are you on your own? This may be a good question for the other parents whose kids go there rather than the provider herself/himself.
