Alimentum moms come in

Have any of you successfully transitioned your LO off of alimentum on to regular formul or at least a sensitive formula?

LO is going through a can every two days.  A can is $30.  This is literally costing us about $100 a week.  The most important thing is, of course, LO's health but if it is possible to transition them to something a little less expensive (a sensitive or soy formula) I would like to try.  I plan to bring this up at his next pedi appt, but wondering if anyone had any experience.

Re: Alimentum moms come in

  • We haven't transitioned yet so I would like to hear what others have to say.  Our pedi did talk about it at her 4 month visit and said she would have to be well on solids and tolerating them well to start the transition.  Have you started solids

  • I asked this question when we first started her on the Alimentum (at 7 weeks). If I remember correctly, I think he said we can try to switch around 7 - 8 months. He said that after 6 months, many babies will outgrow the allergy or sensitivity as their

  • We ordered two cases from amazon and got them cheaper than purchasing by the can at the local store.

  • Thanks for the tips on where to find them cheaper.  I will definately look into that!

As for solids, I have tried rice cereal and oatmeal and neither is going well at all.  He wants nothing to do with it...which is strange because he LO

  • We just switched to Enfamil AR after being on Alimentum for the past 7 months with no problems. We just mixed his bottles (half AR and half Alimentum) until we were out of the Alimentum. It's such a relief to not have to buy it anymore.

  • My insurance doesn't cover the Alimentum either - even with a prescription. It sucks.

My DD is not really interested in food, either. My pedi said it's totally normal and that some babies don't show interest in eating until closer to 9 months, bu

  • Our insurance doesn't cover it either.  Boo!

Rice cereal didn't go over well in our house.  It bothered her stomach too much so we ended up waiting a few weeks and going straight to veggies.  She is doing much better o

My insurance covers most of DD Allimentum so it's cheaper then regular formula, but at my 6 month appointment, my ped said we could try transitioning by mixing half Alimentum half regular formula and gradually increase it.  Since it is cheaper for us

  • A can makes 115 ozs. How is it possible that lo is going through 1 can in 2 days? My dd goes through 1 can every 4 days, though she has been eating 3 meals per day from 6 or 7 months.

I tried transitioning dd to regular formula. She became t
  • I just read back and saw that your lo won't eat rice or oatmeal cereals. Who can blame them so bland! :

I would try straight purees: carrot or sweet potato or broccoli. Something that is early allergenic. Carrots and sweet potatoes are rela
