Speech Delay. Update.

Several months ago I wrote a post asking for advice about my son's speech delay. After Christmas, I took your advice and called to get him an appointment for an early childhood evaluation done by the school. And he was recommended for speech and language therapy. He's been evaluated by a speech therapist for about 2 months now (going once a week). I have a meeting with her on Thursday to let me know how he's doing and wether or not he'll qualify for therapy (which she's pretty much already said he will). I'm also grateful that we had the whole early childhood evaluation done, because he also failed his vision exam. I ended up having to take him to the children's hospital to get his eyes examined. Turns out he's near-sighted in one eye and far-sighted in the other. So he has to get glasses as well! We went and picked out frames on Saturday and they'll be ready for him in about a week. I can't believe my baby boy has to get glasses!! But I'm glad we caught it early. The eye doctor said there is a possiblity that he won't always have to wear them.

Thank-you so much for the advice and guidance that you all gave! I'm thankful to have such an awesome group of mothers to go to for advice!

I never really thought about that before. But after doing some research on the internet, it seems that it is possible. It wouldn't hurt to go get his vision checked. The sooner they catch it the better!
