Talk to me about Everett.

My H and I may be moving to Everett this summer. Where are the good areas and bad areas? What should we expect?

TIA for any info.

Re: Talk to me about Everett.

  • Hello, stay away from North Everett and Casino rd. Good areas are silver lake, mill creek.. Hope that helps :)

  • Do a search for crime statistics by location where you are interested. Also search the newspapers. Are you looking for a house or an apartment? Are you wanting convenience to transportation or further out? The answers to those questions could help you figure out the areas around Everett to look at.

I do know that Mill Creek is very good and I enjoyed the time I spent in Mukilteo though it is a bit further from every day stuff.

  • I would stay away from Everett completely if you can.  Lynnwood is close to Everett but a much better location for raising a family, better community, better schools, etc.  Mill Creek is very nice as well. I live in Edmonds, which has a wonderful community and great schools.

Are you from Washington or are you currently relocating?  Are you looking to buy or rent?  Is your work in or around Everett?

    I hope that helps :)

  • Thanks! We are going to rent first (hopefully no longer than six months) and then buy. H will be working in Everett. I will work where ever I find a job.

I currently live in Eastern Washington but grew up in the Olympia area.

  • Then definitely open up your radius a bit. Yes rent is a bit pricier, but many factors contribute to me suggesting looking outside of Everett. So many close options. As long as you don't live South of Seattle trying to commute to Everett, you could open up your search options even a bit more. Good luck!

  • I agree with CKMommy, definitely look outside of Everett. There are very few parts of it that are okay these days. I'd look at Mill Creek, Bothell and even the part of Everett that is almost in Snohomish.

Sounds good! Thanks for the advice. I will broaden my search for sure.

  • We live in Everett and have for 3 years. Just like most areas there are pockets you don't want to live. We're along the Everett/Mukilteo border and love where we live. Silver Lake area is nice too. Steer clear of the downtown/broadway area as this is the one place I do not recommend. Everett School District is pretty similar to surrounding districts. The schools vary by neighborhood, so once you find a place you are interested in, go to OSPI website and look at the school report. The test scores along with rate of free and reduced lunchea are good indicators.

  • Stay away from Casino Rd and anything off of Evergreen way or Hwy 99... I grew up in Snohomish which is the suburb of Everett and its a little pricier but its definitely worth it.. And its close enough that a drive to boeing or PSNS Everett isnt bad.
