Baby Carrier

We will have 2 under 1 for a brief time and I've decided I will def need a baby carrier. We didn't use one with DS1, so I need advice. Should I go with something that you strap n like the Baby Bjorn or a fabric wrap like the Moby? Opinion? Experiences? Thanks!

I found the moby to be too time consuming to put on while my toddler was running around. I have used an Ergo, Bjorn and Maya wrap ring sling and like them all for different things. The maya wrap is great for nursing while chasing other kids, but doesn't feel secure to me as a regular carrier. The ergo is great but with the infant insert gets really hot. When my DD#1 was a baby, she spent most of her time in the dreaded Bjorn - it was quick to put on, and not too hot in the middle of summer. But people say it is bad for their hips. She lived in the thing and is fine...but I only use it for DD#2 to keep in the car and use in stores, since it is easy off and on. Go try some on in a baby store and then decide!! Good luck Smile

I've used the Bjorn, K'tan (similar to the Moby but all one piece) and the Baby Hawk. I hated the Bjorn, it killed my back, loved the K'tan for tiny babies and liked the Baby Hawk for tiny and older babies. #2 hated the car seat and stroller so I wore her any time we were out until she was around 5 months old.

I agree with a pp. Don't use a Moby (too time consuming, even with just one baby). I just got my Ergo about 2 weeks ago. I much prefer it over the Moby.

I also used Baby Ktan for first 3 months and liked it. Then used the Ergo and LOVED it!

I'm looking at the Baby Bjorn Active. It's pediatrician recommended and has adjustable lumbar back support. I think that would really help my back. Any personal experience?

I have a Beco gemini and really like it. It's super sturdy, supports his head, and is easy to put on. However, just this past week, I discovered a different carry with my ring sling, and I really like that for around the house, especially if he can fall asleep. I agree with others about the moby---i have one and i've tried it a couple times, but too much in the heat of the moment, so to speak.

I use the bjorn for when the girls were nb. Then we moved up to the ergo at about three months. I can still put DD2 in the ergo and she is happy in it. She will be two in June.

I also wanted a carrier to wear my newborn while I chase after DS1. I ended up buying a baby k'tan and a beco Gemini. I got the k'tan for around the house since it is soft like a wrap, but there is no tying involved. I got the Gemini for outings and chose it over other buckle carriers because it is newborn friendly.
Do your research to help figure out which type would be best for your needs. There are several websites out there that do a good job of outlining the pros and cons of each type of carrier and brand. GL
