First bday party will be at a pavilion at a park nearby. Already booked it and now thinking about themes. We will prob have about the same amount of ppl that were at her shower if not more so we will just get it catered. It's the weekend after her bday and its the day I was due with her!!!

DS had his 6 month vaccines on Friday and a really rough time with teething the past few days. All that combined with time change means a very fussy, over tired, and cranky baby. We've also started solids and I'm having trouble finding a routine to fit it in every day. I try to do at least one solid a day but shoot for 2-3 if at all possible.
Milestones- DS turned 6 months old last week and has started solids. He is really enjoying food and LOVES to feed himself. We're doing homemade purees and BLW!
DS's 1st birthday is kind of a touchy subject. I want a small party with just immediate family and close friends. Other members of our family are really pushing for a large celebration. We will see what happens. I have a pinterest board started already with a ton of cute ideas! Now it's just a matter of picking just one theme.

I'm happy to hear that ::fingers crossed:: her constipation is under control! That's so exciting about her crawling! DS just finally figured out how to push his chest up off the ground by pushing up on his hands. Did you do anything special to help her figure out crawling?

Well I'm on my second glass of wine lol. DS has been having a lot of nap issues see post below so he just had a major meltdown that lasted an hour and a half. I finally poured myself a wine and gave him a bottle of pumped milk from yesterday. Poor guy cannot get past 30 minutes of napping and it takes him forever to even fall asleep.
Luckily he sleeps a lot better at night so that's good. He has been so smiley this week and is able to find his fingers to suck. It's his new favorite thing lol. During his meltdown tonight he stopped for a minute and looked up and smiled at me. I had to laugh because not 30 seconds later did he stop up again lol.
GTKY I have not thought about his first birthday yet but it is the day after christmas so it will likely be at our house with just close family and friends.

So glad solids are going well for you! Some days DD will go to town and other days she doesn't want anything to do with anything. It can be really stressful, even when I try to tell myself food is just for fun right now.
BFing those first few weeks was such a nightmare!! Really hope the LC can help. Mine was a lifesaver. Also, a baby that brings another baby Legos is maybe my favorite baby EVER.
Challenges: 4month shots, plus three rounds of rabies vaccine down, only one more to go! My son is a trooper, that's for sure ~ and we'll be trying a few purees soon, bc my DS is practically grabbing the food off our plates! :P
GTKY: haven't even thought about it! I know we want to do a small cupcake, instead a big giant cake
That's about as far ahead as I thought about (I should check out Pinterest for ideas, too!)

While DD has definitely gotten a lot better about solids, she's still just not into them most days. She also doesn't consistently like the same thing (unless it's avocado), so I never know what to offer her
And DH is stressing me out, because he wants her to be eating more than she is and keeps pushing just spoon feeding... and honestly, she feeds herself more stuff than we ever do with a spoon, so if we give up BLW completely she won't be eating hardly anything at all. She rarely opens her mouth and turns her head away most of the time.
She's getting much better at sitting up on her own, though. She'll go for about thirty seconds now before she topples over, though I know she's behind the curve on this, too
So I'm worrying all over this week about her eating and her motor development! And am no fun whatsoever.
I've got no clue about her first birthday party yet. I feel like since it's August and it will be super hot we ought to do something outside with a sprinkler or a baby pool, because DD really loves the water. I should start a Pin board!
Thanks! We just do lots of tummy time which she loves. She would either roll to where she wanted or scoot and has been doing that for weeks. We would put her toys a little bit away from her so she would have to try to reach them but she just rolled to them! lol I guess it took her bottle to get her going cause that's what I put on the floor when she crawled to it and me. lol Its only been day #2 but she is kinda lazy about it and not crawling all over the place yet!

You're doing everything right! I think you posted something here or on FB...maybe it was Baby Sideburns. Anyway, it was a blog about baby milestones and how bad they can make parents feel. Don't you worry about Miss E :] She's just content with the way things are! She'll be crawling, eating and talking before you know it and you'll wonder where your sweet, immobile, breastfed baby went.
Andrea ri 80, those first few weeks [and more] breastfeeding can be soooooo exhausting. Stick with it! If you FF your older LO, you know bfing has the potential to be easier eventually :]
We've been so sick here for 2 weeks now. G has been having a rough week. Sleep has been hard to come by around here. She just starts to fuss and doesn't want to nurse, so we get up a couple times a night and walk around the house. I am exhausted. Anyway, I hope she's better soon and that this isn't teething, because I can't handle this for an extended period if time.
First birthday!? Oh, I have no idea. I'm not a great planner. I'd like to probably just have a small gtg at the park near our house. Hopefully it's not too hot!

Milestone - can getting your first head cold be a milestone? DD has goop coming out of her eye and her nose is a little clogged. DH will call the pedi today to check her out. DS had the exact same thing when he was about 3 months old...funny story, we actually sent him to daycare with a gooey eye thinking it was just eye dirt! They immediately called us and said he had to go home. Now, we know better.
I'm still struggling with overproduction of milk. I'm waiting for my boobs to regulate overnight. DD's last feed will be somewhere between 8-9:30 PM and by 4 AM I am awake with boobs about to burst. I'm also exhausted every day as I'm back to work now and I spend like 1 1/2 hour every night getting ready for the next day (showering, drying hair, making lunch). On top of that, I'm trying to give DD and DS the attention they need. I now understand why most parents don't watch TV shows regularly so one of these days when all my shows are cancelled, there'll be no more new shows for me to follow because I don't have the time. Sigh.
DD's birthday is several days before Christmas. I think I'm going to have her party the first weekend of December for the rest of her childhood. This way, people aren't so "partied out" from all the holiday parties and separate her birthday from Christmas. It'll just be family. I don't know if I'll have it at a restaurant (small banquet room) or at my house which is really small. It'll depend on how many people are coming and how much time I have to clean and decorate! I do want a glittery pink theme and I will be making my cupcakes!

We have had a big week. Last Tuesday K started crawling, and yesterday he pulled himself to standing in his crib. I hit all of my motor milestones very late (my mom thought something was wrong with me, I didn't even roll over until almost 10 months) so I just kind of expected K to be the same, I am really proud of him but am totally unprepared for a little mover. I need to baby proof this weekend, big time.
I don't know how many people here know, but last April my Mom was diagnosed with an unresectable glioblastoma (brain cancer) the average life expectancy after diagnosis is only 1 year. Well she is about at the one year mark, and actually doing much better than expected, so I am just looking forward to being able to celebrate LO's first birthday with her.

Little J seems to finally be getting over his congestion. So I'm hoping to get him back into his crib this weekend (we had him back in the RNP so he would be at an incline so he wouldn't get so stuffed up). He sleeps from 7:30pm to 4am, eats a 2 oz bottle and goes back to sleep until 6:30 or 7am which is perfect for us to get him ready and off to day care before DH and I go to work.
His first birthday will be December 30th...which is kind of a bad time of year (right after Christmas and before New Years) but we plan to have a family party at MIL/FIL's house with lunch and cake...I can't wait for the cake smash! Should be fun! We opted to not do a big party and invite all our friends and their kids...we decided until LO is school age (6 or 7) we are just going to keep his parties with family only. Otherwise it turns into a huge production.

Congratulations and welcome!! GL with the LC! My daughter had an excruciatingly painful latch in those first few weeks, but we got a lot of help and are still BFing.

Good morning! I'm a very happy girl, and still in awe of this little girl I brought home.
She is very gassy, so we are trying to get that under control to help stop her spitting up so much. It is getting better.
No plans for her big #1 bday yet- but I have quite some time to plan.
