How is everyone doing? Any updates? (For newbies, this is a weekly thread for anyone and everyone on the LGBT Parenting board. You just write back and tell us what's going on in your TTC journey, life with kids, or life in general.)
Question of the Day: If you like sports, what's your favorite sport to play? To watch on TV or live? If you don't like sports, what's your least favorite sport to play? To watch on TV or live? (Or feel free to answer all parts of the question if you have a love/hate relationship with sports or with some sports.)
Re: Wednesday Community Check-In
I would like to put in a request for those of you with babies to post a pic for PIP tomorrow - I love swooning over the cuteness while I'm at work.
Yesterday was a no good, very bad day for me. Luckily I came home and my love had pizza already delivered and we could snuggle in and watch Grey's for the night. I think I went to bed at 9:30pm.
Today is much better though. Something is going on with my body and I'm thirsty ALL the time. I've been drinking water and herbal tea non-stop today and trying to avoid caffeine and salt. I'm not sure if I'm gaining weight (possible) or just getting bloated from the stims, but my pants are also getting a bit tight around my belly today.... Have any of you experienced these as side-effects to injectable stims?
Anyway - I'm feeling better today, like I have more control of the world, which is a relief because yesterday was horrible! FX our clinic visit tomorrow goes well and those stubbourn follicles have grown at least 4mm each!
QOTD: I like cycling, if that's a sport - though I prefer it recreationally. In terms of team sports I love playing soccer, but am not in good enough shape anymore to play well.
My most hated sports are probably curling (tried it once and hated it!), and I've never understood the allure of golf. I'd much prefer to go hiking.

We lost our beautiful Twin baby girls on June 18, 2014. Tavin Sara and Casey Elizabeth were born at 21 weeks gestation and were absolutely beautiful, precious, amazing babies. We miss our daughters every day and love them with all our hearts.
I'm having a day where I question my ability to keep calm under the hormone effect. I ordered a sandwich, chips and a cookie (yes, I own all that) and none of it was right when it was delivered. I internally flew off the handle, gave my meal to a co worker while wildly complaining about it and flew out of the office to drive somewhere to pick something up where I knew they wouldn't mess it up. I cannot even describe how mad I was about it though!
I feel crazy sometimes and I know it's not the real me. I have had a couple of other moments like this already and I'm getting better at harnessing it, but I definitely see it as a problem. I am generally a very low key and agreeable person. But, I have noticed since I've been pregnant, I literally feel like I could confront anyone or anything that crosses me the "wrong" way.I just have to learn how to laugh it off. When it happens and S is around, we always end up laughing about it.
That's it for today. LOL. I'm starting to get nervous for my appt tomorrow. I really really hope everything is ok in there.
songbird, one of my biggest fears when getting pregnant is being crazy emotional. i admit that i am already an emotional person and i tend to get into moods and bite my wife's head off for no reason. i have gotten better over the years, but i am really worried i will just cry all the time when pregnant.
I hope it gets better for you, but feel free to pull the pregnancy card anytime you want ;-)
Thanks, that does sound tempting, but I'm really trying not to do that. I'm sure I just seem "off" to others in the few times it's happened, but I wouldn't call the behavior completely irrational.
I think it effects everyone differently. Like I said, the real me is pretty mild mannered and really agreeable. And of the few people that do know, they tell me all different things, like they used to cry a lot or what have you while pregnant, so maybe it will positively effect you and you'll be super bubbly all the time!
But thanks for the support! I know hunger plays a role. I shouldn't have let it get the critical.
I also forgot to answer the QOTD: I actually don't really have a passion for sports, but I love all things Olympics - summer or winter, although I do prefer the summer ones. I don't mind watching sports, but neither S and I are really into it. I probably like college football the best and golf the worst.
Everyone - thanks for reading my rants today!
I went to the gym for the first time in a really long time this morning. I bought a groupon for a two month membership back in January and finally activated it.
M and I have to figure out what we are doing for invitations to our Love Party. We sent out save the dates in the fall and now have to follow up with actual invitations. :
QOTD: I love playing baseball. I also like playing basketball and a bunch of other sports. I generally hate playing coed sports because I can't stand a lot of the men and the way they treat their female teammates.
I like watching baseball live. I don't like watching most sports on tv unless I'm watching with someone who is into the game. Unlike most of the world, I really don't care for watching soccer on TV.
We're queer. I'm 33, have severe stage 4 endo, and had both fallopian tubes removed. My love ("Manada" on the boards, 32) was diagnosed with diminished ovarian reserve. We did Partner IVF (my eggs, her uterus). We lost our twins Tavin and Casey at 21 weeks gestation.
Our IUIs
with @Manada: IUI# 1-7 (December 2012- September 2013) all BFN. Tried natural, femara, clomid, puregon/follistim, clomid and menopur combo, both the ovidrel and HCG triggers.
Our IVFs:
IVF #1 my eggs November/December 2013: Cancelled IVF due to poor response
IVF #2 my eggs/Manada's uterus January/February 2014
BCPs and lupron overlap Stimmed: 1/22-2/2: Bravelle and Menopur (dosage ranged from B300 and M150 to B375 and M150 to B300 and M225)
2/4 retrieved 10 eggs. Endo was much worse than expected. Only 3 eggs fertilized; February 7 transferred two day 3 embryos, froze one. All great condition.
BFP eve of 6dp3dt; Beta 1 (11dp3dt): 110; Beta 2 (13dp3dt): 175; Beta 3 (15dp3dt): 348; Beta 4 (19dp3dt): 2222; Beta 5 (21dp3dt): 4255
1st ultrasound (3/6 6w 1d): TWINS!!!! Twin A measuring 6w1d with a heartbeat of 118bpm. Twin B measuring 6w0d with a heartbeat of 113bpm.
***July 18, 2014 we lost our beautiful babies at 21 weeks gestation. They were born too early. Tavin Sara T. and Casey Elizabeth T. are beautiful and precious and we will love them and miss them forever.***
FET #1 December 2014
I had a really rough night last night. We are at the end of our TWW and I am an emotional mess! I had a complete melt down last night and the same thing happened last TWW. I really am not a meltdown kind of person. I can really see what people say about the TTC rollercoaster.I did however get to go hang out with a good friend of ours today and their kids and it made me feel better.
QOTD: I really don't like sports. I have never really liked sports. There is one time I enjoy watching sports and that is during March Madness (College Basketball). I'm actually pretty stupid when it comes to sports and this is a conversation C and I had the other day and C put it on FB: "Yesterday I was explaining to A how crazy it was that U of K won the national championship last year and might not even make it into the tournament this year. She said "Oh my gosh, it's just like The New Directions... They won nationals last year and then didn't even make it past sectionals this year." Yep, that's where that conversation ended." So if that shows you my knowledge of sports...

This is HILARIOUS and pretty much how my conversations go with sports fans/friends. LOL
Hi all! Sorry I have been MIA...busy week. Anyway, things around here are going alright. I still haven't turned an OPK positive yet, which is starting to worry me. I just have to remember that we aren't going to TTC for a few more months, so we have time to figure everything out.
Our quest to pay off debt before TTC is coming along really well. We paid off almost everything of mine, except student loans, and we only have a little more of DW's stuff, too! Totally worth missing out on sunny vacation knowing that this is all done!
I just finished getting my sis's THIRD baby shower ready. It cost us an arm and a leg, which made me incredibly angry considering it is her third kid. However, it is done and I'm not spending another dime. If she decides that she wants to have yet another kid (because they NEED another daughter and they were incredibly disappointed that this one is a boy), not a PENNY of mine will be going into another shower for her. When did it become normal to have a shower for every kid??
QOTD:I don't know if it is considered a "sport" but my heart belongs to backpacking and hiking. I can't explain how much I love being on the trail. Also, I love hockey. I don't play, but my wife does and her team is amazing. They are a family to us and I am at the rink at least once per week!
I'm doing really well and heading into a busy time with work, school and volunteer stuff. My MIL is also coming to visit so that should be interesting!
As far a sports, I'm not really a big team sports player. Although I did go bowling for my birthday and got a 170 for the first time! LOL.
C will watch certain games for certain sports during the seasons and I'll sometimes watch. We often go to a few WNBA games per season as well and I enjoy those.
Personally, rather than playing sports I do other forms of exercise including walking (about 6-10 miles a week), prenatal yoga (hopefully 2-3 times per week) and will start swimming about twice a week beginning next week. I hope to add in some cardio and maybe a bit of light weights here and there.
Hi everyone. It seems like the last few weeks have really flown by for some reason. It's hard to believe K will be 18 weeks in two days! While she's certainly tired and has the expected round ligament pain, we are both so grateful that overall she's feeling good. I keep having to reassure her that it is ok to just rest...there's no shame in that! On Monday we go for the anxiously awaited Anatomy Scan. Even though we already know the genders, it will be good to see how they're doing, particularly Baby B.
QOTD: I love sports. My favorite sport would have to be Women's College Basketball. I graduated from the University of Tennessee, so I'm a Lady Vol through and through. Just yesterday I received my copy of Pat Summit's new memoir, Sum It Up. I'm just a little ways in, but I highly recommend it. I also love to watch football and I cheer for Peyton Manning since we went to college together(no, I never even met him lol), but I can't really get behind the Broncos in general. As for personal participation, I played rugby in college and football after, but now I much prefer hiking to playing sports.
I just don't understand sports! I feel like I am a fairly intelligent person but when people explain the rules and plays and passes I am completely lost! LOL
