Another of the same question...

you've been asked a million times.  Sorry for the redundancy.

I've decided that I'm going to try to make my own woven wrap...simply because I just can't spend over $100 for a woven right now, but DS is getting way to heavy for the K'tan. Not to mention, I'd love to back carry him.

I've seen that it's recommended to buy heavier weight fabric to prevent pressure points, however, DS is a furnace.  I'm afraid he'll overheat in a heavyweight fabric.   Can I get a lighterweight cotton guaze and just get it from a wider bolt and sew thicker hems to distribute the weight better, or is it really just 6 in 1, half a dozen or the other?

Thanks again for your help!

Re: Another of the same question...

  • I'm interested in the answer to this, too.  Is there a link anyone has to good fabrics to make a wrap out of?  A tutorial perhaps? I haven't seen anything on the sites I've looked at, but I'm new to this idea and kinda lost.

  • Mrs.AB, I see no one else has responded to your question and since I thread-jacked you and have been doing research, I thought I'd try to help you out.  I have heard that using thinner fabrics will work, but thin fabrics aren't as forgiving for beginners as standard wovens are.  Here's a link that might be helpful for you: https://wearyourbaby.com/Default.aspx?tabid=121

  • More information - thebabywearer forums have a bunch of information. I'm not sure how I missed it before. (note, you have to register before you can see the forums)

  • Thanks Amelia! I appreciate your research! I kept coming across the babywearer but just didn't register. I will definitely do that!
