Anyone With A Tilted Uterus;Successful Pregnancy?

Hi,I wasnt sure where to make this thread since I am currently going through a waiting game...About 4-5 years ago I was told I have a tilted uterus. My husband and I have been TTC for a couple of months now and we alwasy thought that having a tilted uterus would make it harder to concieve.Well after a wierd 10 day period and feeling extremely nauseous thereafter,I decided to take a HPT and come to find out I am pregnant with my first...Unfortunatly I was told that my hcg level is at 62 and that I might be very early cause there was northing seen the u/s or that I might've m/c. I also read that with a tilted uterus it makes it harder to see anything until the 12th week. I "feel" pregnant and after several HPT's I am not going to believe that I miscarried with my current symptoms. I will let you know what symptoms I currently feel after a reply.... Anyone face something similar?

Re: Anyone With A Tilted Uterus;Successful Pregnancy?

  • I have had two successful pregnancies with a tipped ute and am carrying twins now. It was never an issue getting pregnant or carrying the babies to term.
  • Loading the player...
  • I worked with a woman who had a tilted uterus, she actually helped me get pregnant after one year of trying her advice. She had 3 successful pregnancies. She just had a harder time getting pregnant.

  • I was told years ago I had a tilted uterus but have no trouble conceiving. Keeping the pregnancy has been my issue but my perinatologist thinks it has nothing to do with that. I have heard it can make it difficult to view the baby till a little later but that just depends on how tilted it is. Good luck!
  • Thanks girls. Yeah since I was told that its a possibility that i m/c or am going to just cause of how low my hcg levels were and cause they didnt see anything on the u/s,I am definantly staying hopeful, since it could only be because of my tilted uterus that they couldnt see anything...I am so nervous about getting my blood work. I pray that they're rising. I feel perfectly fine,so I really think I could still be pg...Until I get my blood work results maybe after today,I am got to be restless.
  • Tilted UTE and twins healthily growing. I was told it was common (like, 1 in 3.5 common) and that it would not affect my pregnancy or delivery at all.

You'll be in my t & p's. When did you have your second blood draw? My ute is so tipped that even at 12 weeks my doc still had to use the transvaginal u/s to get a good look at the babies.

  • I have one too, 1 successful pregnancy, one VERY early m/c but highly doubt it was caused due to my ute, and currently almost 11 weeks. My Dr. said the ONLY time it causes concern is when it is severly tilted and can cause issues further into the pregnancy. I have never heard that it makes getting pregnant harder or that it will cause a m/c. Early m/c's can be very common for a lot of people. I think it is just really early and that is why your HCG levels are low.... FX for higher HCG!

Early m/c are actually really freaking common, they don't make it very public though so I never knew how high the rate was

Now, t&p and sticky baby fairy dust (or whatever they say) and I hope to hear an awesomely happy update

Thank you so much. Well my first blood work was about 3 days ago (HCG-62), I think I might go today for my second. Yeah I had the doppler and vaginal u/s and was told they still couldnt rule out ectopic or m/c cause nothing showed...But he also told me that my tubes were clear. It doesnt make sense to me. Does it to you?

I actually just recently read that a tilted uterus cannot cause a m/c unless there are other concerns...But shockingly I was told by my previous Gyno that it can happen. I was lied to! :(  I am scared of getting my blood work but I have to do it. I pray that the levels have gone up since 3 days ago. Thank you for your wishes for me. :o)

I'm glad I could help. But to answer your question, no it doesn't seem right if your tubes were clear. I'm praying that it was just too early to see anything and you can't really hear anything with the Doppler until 10ish weeks in my experience anyways with having a tipped ute.
  • I've had one successful pregnancy and am on my second, and I have a tilted uterus. They were actually able to see baby in an abdominal ultrasound this time around at 6 weeks 3 days. The US tech seemed to insinuate my uterus was actually in a good position to see something because it was tilted, but I'm not sure how much of that is true.

  • Without knowing exactly when you ovulated, it was pretty irresponsible of your nurse to put the worry in your head that you are potentially miscarrying or even give you an ultrasound in the first place. A bHCG level of 62 does indicate you are pregnant (and that's a pretty decent number if you are right at 4 weeks or so along) and if you have another draw 48 hrs from the first one, it should have doubled from 62. It's completely normal (and expected) to not be able to see anything on u/s with a number that low - you cannot visualize a pregnancy til bHCG is at least at 1,000 and many docs will not perform an ultrasound til bHCG is well over 1,500 because the results can be inconclusive. The bleeding you experienced could have been something concerning or it could have been nothing at all.

Also, IDK who told you that a tilted uterus can impede conception, but it's false. It can take a normal, healthy couple up to a year to conceive (up to 6 mos if you are over 35).

I wish you all the best. Easier said than done, but try to relax and breathe.

  • I have a very tilted uterus. Imagine an uninflated balloon folded in half. As my daughter got bigger that balloon just filled up and straightened out. It never caused a single problem

From what I hear it can be harder to get pregnant with a tilted uterus and it is more likely to have back labor, but I have heard nothing about it causing complications in pregnancy. Good luck mama!

ETA we also weren't able to hear my daughters heartbeat until about 10-12  weeks I believe. And we had to do a vaginal ultrasound to see her heart until about 8 weeks

OH MY GOSH!! you have no idea how big`of a smile you put on my face and much more hope by your comment.Thank you very much. I agree with you. I found it a bit akward to have an u/s so soon. When I had the bleeding,I didnt have any cramping so im hoping it wasnt anything to worry about. I was doing the Insanity workout with my husband (as you probably already know, its a very intese workout) a couple days before the bleeding started. Do you think maybe thats what caused the bleeding?...I forgot to mention that the doctor had told me that 62 is extremely low and it worries him...Was he exaggerating or is it too low if I may be 4 weeks?

The bleeding could have been caused by many many things from sex to straining when you poop to just hormone changes - it's estimated that 25% of women experience a bleed during pregnancy.

When was your LMP? When was your first + pregnancy test? That might be able to give you a more accurate idea of what your due date is, but if you really are just barely pregnant, then 62 is a totally fine number. Again, it's not really the beginning number, but the doubling time, that is the concerning part so you should have a repeat beta drawn 48 hrs after the first. Anywhere from 5-500 could be considered normal for your first draw, though my RE likes to see the first draw above 50.

I don't want to give you false/unrealistic hope but at this point it really could go either way. Prepare for the worst, hope for the best.

  • I too have a tilted uterus and so far the only issues I have had in this pregnancy is finding a heartbeat with the doppler was difficult. I did my own research and it says that by the end of the first trimester a woman's body will correct itself.

Thanks for commenting....for the past several months,I have been starting my period on the 27th of each month and it started on Feb 27th and it was only brown spotting for 3 days (light enough to wear a pantyliner) then it got heavier and red (no clots) for 3 1/2 days and then sloooowly ended with spotting for the following 3 days. I haven't been bleeding since then. The cramping were very minimal, almost unnoticeable. I had started doing the Insanity workout with my husband a day after I started spotting...Could that have caused the bleeding?...And to answer your question,I decided to take the first test and got a + on the last day of what I thought was my period.

  • I have a tilted uterus with this pregnancy, but my doctor said that my uterus should correct itself in the second trimester when the uterus rises up out of the pelvis. My uterus is tilted back (looks kind of flat, like a pancake) so my cervix is extremely high right now. It causes a lot of pain in my back. My doctor isn't anticipating any problems yet. It hasn't caused any trouble with transvaginal ultrasounds or Doppler yet. I also don't think that we had any trouble conceiving. It took 6 months after our miscarriage, but since we weren't "oohrah" trying, I'm not concerned with that time frame.

  • I have a retroverted uterus and am currently 18 weeks and 3 days pregnant with my first child. We conceived on our first try. I did not know beforehand that my uterus was tilted. The only issues it has cause is that the doctor was unable to find the heartbeat with the doppler only. So I have had an ultrasound every visit in order to find the heartbeat. Hope all is well for you!
