Although, I'm not sure this puts me at high-risk....maybe it does. But, I was urged to post this on the high-risk board.
They had to put me on insulin last friday, which I am completely fine with. Whatever I have to do to bring this baby here safely, I'm fine with .
With that said, because I'm on insulin, OB said he didn't want me to go past 38 weeks or 39 at the most. His reason for this was because he said that insulin causes a higher risk for spontaneous still births.
-Way to freak me out Doc!
So, now I'm all up in arms about all the plans I had.
I didn't want to be induced at all! Has anyone else heard this or been in a similar situation? Any advice? Are there other ways to induce, besides using pitocin?
Does anyone have a similar experience with this? Thanks for the help ladies!
Re: Intro and questions....
Hi! Welcome to the board!
I'm not sure about the insulin stuff, one of our resident GD ladies would be best to answer that! But for inducing, they can use cervadil to help ripen the cervix, or they could sweep your membranes to help kick start labor. If you ask your OB about your options, and request that maybe pitocin is a last resort, I'm sure they'd oblige.
