    QOTW:  I've been blogging Nugget's story so that I don't forget.  There is a link to my blog in my signature, if anyone is interested in reading it.

  • UpDate-On Lupron, last BCP today.  Donor's FDA testing on 3/13.  Baseline for both of us next Monday, 3/18.

    QOTW-We have told both our Mothers, and no one else.  We are planning to use age appropriate books to introduce our child to the concept of ART.  We wish for our child to one day feel that, "I've always know" and prevent "the big talk" about how they came to be.  For us, our larger challenge will be sharing this information with my son-who will be 21 when this child is born.  Our clinic's SW recommends telling him shortly after telling him of the pregnancy-something for us to look forward to!

  • Update:

    You can take me out of the 2ww.  DE FET#1 resulted in BFP which quickly turned to MC.  No idea what went wrong, no idea how to prevent it from happening again.  This is my 4th repeat miscarriage.  We thought, that taking my old eggs out of the picture would have prevented this, but looks like there may be another cause.  We are moving on to the next try.  Our doctor agreed to more tests but I am not sure what they are, he said it's all blood work, so I am assuming it is for autoimmunity disorders or something like the sort. I need to wait one cycle and then can start back on the meds.  We are trying to decide whether or not to make more embryos, we only have 1 left.

    I had an ultrasound on the 28th to look at the nodules on the musculature of my spine.  They are confirmed well defined masses of tissue, but so far have no blood flow, which is reassuring.  They still can't rule out metastatic or new cancer so I will have to have biopsy.  I can't handle that right now so I put it off for max 3 months.  But considering that I have to wait at least 2 cycles now to TTC again it might be prudent to look into it now.  I just don't want to, I don't have the emotional or mental capacity to deal with that.

    QOTW:  We hadn't decided yet how or when to tell our child(ren).  I think it is important medically that they know but DH isn't convinced.  We were never going to tell anyone else, mostly because I think it should be our child(ren)'s decision to share that story.  But I have a single 42 year old friend looking into IVF and I was thinking I should tell her so she doesn't think we were successful using my eggs.  But then, we haven't been successful at all so not sure yet.

    Thanks everyone for support lately.

  • GL to everyone cycling and huge (((hugs))) to those that need it.

    Update: we FINALLY had my lining check, after 2 cancelled flights due to weather, and it was great at 10.9, so we moved the transfer date back and it will be this Thursday, 3/14! I fly out tomorrow night and will be coming back the evening of the transfer. After the first one not working I am hoping that this one does the trick.

    QOTW: I haven't put a lot of detailed thought into this, other than to know that we will be open about it with our kids (if we ever get to that point!). I know there are some great children's books out there that I intend to get and read to help our child be familiar with the concept. My Mom knows what we're doing and so do a few select friends, but I doubt I will share it with everyone. Not everyone needs to know. And I feel like I can gauge pretty well who of our friends is open-minded about it and who is not.

    Congrats to Lynne on her beautiful boys.

    Jrm1977 - how are you feeling? I hope everything is going smoothly

    Rebann - I can't believe you are so far along! Sorry about the placenta previa and potential c/s.  At least you know and can be safe.

    QOTW

    We planned to be very open about DE and told our families when we told them we were pregnant.  I don't find myself telling people frequently though just because it doesn't seem to be pertinent.  We plan to start with books when the girls are still young and just talk about it like its one of the many ways babies are made.

    imagehappywifemomofone:

     For us, our larger challenge will be sharing this information with my son-who will be 21 when this child is born.  Our clinic's SW recommends telling him shortly after telling him of the pregnancy-something for us to look forward to!

    I was most worried about telling my teenage sons and so we told them I was pregnant and explained IVF and told them about the donor egg.  They seemed a little confused and I said - well it's like a sperm donor but egg instead of sperm and they were like Oh Yeah.  We know tons of kids whose parents used a sperm donor and went on to list them all like it was very normal.  They really aren't phased by it.  My 15 year old said something about the girls being like him and I said well technically you don't share DNA and he basically said they are my sisters and DNA doesn't matter...and he's right.

  • Hi ladies, We are currently planning an FET with our two remaining fully biological eggs and if that fails, we will probably move onto donor eggs (and actually if it works, we will probably do the same as we want siblings). The only type of donor egg cycle my clinic has talked to us about is the full cycle where we pick a donor, fly that person out to where we live, check her out, retrieve and fertilize all her eggs. We plan to ask about shared cycles and frozen donor egg banks also when we get to that point.

    QOTW: I'm curious in people's responses to this also as we have not made a decision. I would think for the purposes of knowing medical history and risk factors for various diseases, it would be important to tell that child(ren) at some point but when and how and what the reaction would be, I have no idea.

    I had my phone consultation with the RI this afternoon...let's just say it was interesting.  I was surprised by a few recommendations and not so surprised by others, particularly because I had some time to review my labwork beforehand.

    I should get the follow-up letter in a week and am thinking to schedule a follow-up appointment with my RE to review timing and the recommended treatments.  If I agree to do everything the RI is recommending, I don't see how I can do the FET before June.  Tongue Tied

    We're choosing not to make it a big deal with anyone (family or kids), and treat it as private rather than secret.

    Strudel, I like your take on it being "private" rather than a secret, especially when dealing with how to tell any future children.  Only my Mom and a few very close friends even knows that we did a DE cycle and had a miscarriage and right now, I'm glad that not a lot of people know.

    Me: AMA, DOR, undetectable AMH, carrier of SMA, MTHFR homozygous C677T, high cytokines, low IGg B cells, Factor XIII V34l mutation, High Anti-Phosphatidylethanolmine, borderline hypothyroid and mildly insulin resistant.

    MH: No known issues, aside from MTHFR.

    Recommendations from RI: LIT, Humira, IVIG, Lovenox, Baby Aspirin, Folic Acid, Low-dose synthroid and Metformin.

    Currently taking:  Pre-Natal vitamins, Foltanx, Low-dose synthroid and Metformin.

    When cycling also taking: Baby Aspirin, Lovenox, Humira and IVIG.

    TTC since 7/11/09..with medical intervention starting in 2010, including 4 failed IVF's and 6 failed IUI's...only "success" was a chemical pregnancy in 11/2012 (credited to use of DE).

    FET #1 (11th cycle) on 8/23/13 = BFN.

    FET #2 (12th cycle) Transfer of last two (day 6) donor egg blasts on 1/22/14 = BFP, EDD = 10/10/14 (please stick little BOY!)

  •  Good luck to everyone cycling and ((hugs)) to all those that need them!!

    Update: beta on 14dp3dt =2440 and 17dp3dt = over 10,000. I'm thinking there's a good possibility it's more than one growing in there, which makes me excited and REALLY nervous at the same time. I go for my u/s next Wednesday so I guess we'll find out then. I was feeling pretty good up until 2 days ago and now I just have overwhelming nausea 24/7. But definitely not complaining.

    QOTW: we've told our parents and a few very close friends that  we used DE, but we don't really plan on telling everybody. We will share this info with our child.  I'm hoping to give age appropriate info at each age and have our child grow up just always knowing about it. I've been keeping a list of good children's books to use.

  • Hi ladies, I hope I can join. I met with our new RE today, the one we will use for our DE cycle. It looks like all things are a go and we need to work on picking a donor. I'm excited for the first time in a long time.

    As far as telling the kids, every medical journal I've read said the kids should grow up knowing how much mommy and daddy wanted them around but how they needed a little help. I have also been collecting children's books and thinking of age appropriate ways to continue the conversation.

  • I am so sorry about your loss, Mc Irish.  I have been thinking of you and wish you all the best.  You deserve some happiness.

    Update: 20 week anatomy scan- baby looks perfect.  However, I have a complication called vasa previa- there are umblical vessels blocking the birth canal.  Apparently this is very rare and makes me very high risk.  I am going to see an MFM next week.  I am facing a definite c-section, early delivery, and possible bedrest.  I am still keeping my fingers crossed that this all turns out OK, but I'm back to my levels of "beta hell" anxiety, unfortunately.  I am trying just to take things day by day.

    DOR and AMA
    2/12-5/12: 4 IUI cycles = all BFN;
    7/12: DE IVF # 1 (with ICSI)- 20R, 16M, 14F, 5DT of 2 blasts; 6 frosties = BFN;
    Lupus anticoagulant initially high, then found to be normal on hematology consult;
    Follow up testing in September all clear;
    Started synthroid for "high normal" TSH;
    FET # 1- late October 2012- BFP on FRER; beta # 1- 21(low), beta # 2- 48 (still low), beta # 3- 132, beta # 4- 1,293; beta # 5- 5,606; last beta- over 100,000. First u/s 11/21- heard heartbeat
    12/12- Officially an OB patient!
    Level 2 ultrasound at 20 weeks shows vasa previa and VCI
    Referral to MFM and mandatory c section for delivery
    Beautiful baby girl born at 34 weeks
    Finally home after 15 day NICU stay!
    Trying for sibling: FET # 2- May 2014; beta 5/31, BFN
    FET #3, early July 2014; beta 7/14, BFN
    DE IVF # 2- August 2014; 14R, 13M, 11F, 5dt of 2 blasts (3 AA), 5 frosties = BFN
    FET #4- December 2014, yet another BFN

    Dr. KK work up shows borderline uterine blood flow, elevated NK cells, and MTHFR mutation (homozygous for c677t)

    Added baby aspirin, prednisone, supplements, Metanx, and intralipids

    Switched to large clinic for final attempt; had endometrial receptivity testing in January; FET March 2015 = yet another BFN

    Likely OAD- NBC

  • Huge hugs to McIrish and BabyVDM.  Thinking of you both.

    Ceemonkey - today was the DAY!  Hope your transfer went well and we'll be hearing some good news soon.

    Boots - lots of luck with your OE cycle! Fingers crossed that this is it for you!

    Erin, that does sound like twins!  I'm so excited for you! I can hardly wait for your ultrasound either.  ha, ha!

    Chicagobride, hope your appointment with your MFM goes well next week.  I know it must be scary, but it sounds like you are in good hands and you and baby are being well taken care of.

    LittleLady, that's a great first step.  It's such a relief to finally feel like you have a plan.  Of course, then you can't wait to just get the ball rolling.

    AFM, my goal of beginning meds today went right out the window when I realized we'd never get our remaining pre-screening testing done at the local clinic and roll out the records to our out-of-state clinic on time.  Oh, and I found out today that my endo biopsy tested positive for endometritis so I hope to be on antibiotics soon (and pray that I don't have to have another endo biopsy!).  Waiting for remaining results/records to be sent to new clinic and then we should be good to go.  Meds in April and transfer in May.  Fingers crossed!

    Lots of luck to ladies who have betas coming up.  Let's hear some good news!!
