How much do you really???

How much do you really exercise?  I know that I am supposed to be staying active...but I am so dang exhausted!  I know all the reasons why I need to be exercising and I am really trying.  But really I only go on a walk about 2 days a week.  I constantly have a headache, get home from work late, or just feel exhausted.  Not to mention OK weather is wacky.

I want to know how much you all REALLY exercise??? Duration??? Activity?

Right now my only real exercise is chasing my son around with what little energy I have and, of course, the great ab workout also known as vomiting. I am hoping to start walking again in a few months when I feel normal and there isn't so much snow on the ground.

  • Before I got pregnant I had two and a half wonderful weeks of exercising for at least 30 minutes each day. I have been so sick and tired and busy since I got my BFP that I haven't exercised once. I did buy two exercise DVDs but they are still in the plastic they came in. I plan on getting back to it this weekend.

  • I haven't exercised at all :(  I was on exercise restriction for the first 7 weeks of my pregnancy and I keep meaning to get myself going but I just haven't done it.  I feel terrible about it (but obviously not quite terrible enough to get started)  *sigh*  I will start - I swear!!  All I want to start with is 20-30 minute walks and then I also brought a pregnancy workout dvd... I will start!!!  I was doing my walks before exercise restriction and they felt great.

  • In most of the first tri I did prenatal videos about 30 to 45 min a day 6 days a week.....for the last week and a half when I started to feel better, I now workout for about 45 to 60 min a day.....treadmill, vinyasa yoga, or prenatal video. It helps me feel normal to keep working out :)
  • Never.....unless you count my work. I'm a nursing assistant so I am on my feet a lot, and I also have nursing clinicals. Actual exercise though, never.

  • Does walking up and down the stairs to get my son on the bus count? Lol. I really don't, I've been so lazy! Sometimes I'll get some energy and chase my 2yo around, but that's about it. I feel like I live on the couch some days! I do get out and about, mops group, ECFE class with my son, errands when needed, but when I'm home I really don't do much.

  • 30 minutes on the eliptical 2 or 3 days a week. Occasional walk depending on the weather. I am up and down steps at work all day and I teach little kids so I'm very active as well. Once its consistantly warmer, I will speed walk constantly!

  • ive been feeling really exhausted as well and my nausea hasn't gone away yet :( ... but ive been trying to walk at least 3-4 times a week... i usually walk for about 1hr and a half to two hours.... i also live on a hill so i walk to the top and back down through the neighborhood. my only problem is finding someone to go with me. my bf is always working so its been up to my sister. but i still feel like even that isn't enough sometimes.
  • Just started exercising again this last weekend. I didnt exercise at all 1st trimester. First time I had any energy to do so. Did 45 mins on the elliptical both days but low intensity. My goal is to try at least 3 to 4 times a week ...we shall see lol

  • I ran 15 miles on Saturday. I'm training for a marathon in May. So far, so good. However, this isn't my first marathon or my first time running while pregnant. I didn't run this far when pg with DD, so I'm proud of myself for making it this far (literally!).

  • I hate to admit that right now, I'm not exercising at all. The workout I get is on Thursdays when I clean an elderly lady's house for 2 hours. It's 80 degrees in there, and I'm busy for the full two hours. It's exhausting.

I did buy a pregnancy workout DVD, but haven't made myself do it yet. I know I need to change that, ASAP. I keep waiting for it to get warm again so I can go back to walking up to the park.

This, minus the snow here. Little walks here and there.

  • Until about 7 weeks i exercised daily (30 min brisk walking and/or jogging daily; weights 2-3x/wk and at-home-yoga a few times/wk).  Since then i've walked, gardened and done yoga as i've felt able (varies, but i walk at least 10 min a day... not much, but something at least) and that's about it.  In the past few days i've been feeling better and i'm back to 30 min light activity today and will do a little yoga or pilates in the eve.

  • I have been making sure to take the steps at work, which really adds up. Aside from that I would say 35 a week I either go for a 3mile run or play just dance on the wii for about 45min. It helps me stay motivated with the crazy weather here. It's been much easier since I passed the 12 week mark.
  • Only 30 to 35 minutes walking on the treadmill 2 or 3 days a week.  Kinda pathetic.  It should be more often.

I am running a marathon in May too, thank you for making me not feel crazy. I signed up 2 week before bfp.

Cool! Which marathon? Yeah I signed up in October, knowing that I could be as much as 20 weeks pregnant, depending when I got KU. Since it happened after the first month, I will be 20 weeks!

  • I go on a 45 minute walk about 5 days a week and then do some light weights, lunges and abs 23 times a week.

The walks outside actually really helped my nausea and headaches. Must be the fresh, crisp air!
  • Pft. What is exercise? I'm so darn out of shape AND out of breath. I take walks with the kids at work so maybe that counts somewhat, but oh my god. Today we took a 30 minute walk and the whole time I was so out of breath and there wasn't any hills. How pathetic. My mom ordered me a prenatal yoga dvd in the mail so I will be doing that when it comes. I can't be out of shape like this while giving birth that's for sure!

  • Cycling class 2 days a week and running 4 to 6 days a week. I'm kind of addicted to my 5am spin group and I coach track and have three half marathons I'm running this spring. Working out is my "me time" and I'm being stingy with it while I can.

What marathon ladies? I signed up for one but wimped out and am only running the half now. I'm doing the Holy Half in South Bend, Flying Pig in Cincinnatti, and hopefully the Geist in Indianapolis.

I'm doing Pittsburgh (my 4th time for that race). I did the Flying Pig marathon a few years ago. Awesome spectator support and a great course too!

  • Pre-pregnancy was 5-6 days a week, usually 30-45 of something like the 30 day shred.

I was on no exercise restrictions until 9 weeks, so I eased back into things, but now I set my schedule with workouts every day...which ends up being 4-5 days a week on average, 20-30 minutes if it is cardio, 30-45min if it is toning/strength stuff.  Right now all my workouts are from Beachbody Brazil Buttlift program because my thighs/saddlebags are my problem area.

  • 30 minutes on the elliptical and treadmill plus 15 to 20 minutes of free weights, squats, etc., 5 days a week. I gained 50 lbs with my son and I never want to do that again.
  • Set in stone: an hour 3x a week (tennis one morning, reformer pilates the other two)

I try to swim 1.5-2k which works out to be 40ish minutes an additional two days, but that hasn't happened the past two weeks.

Other than that I take a walk in the evenings.

  • Ok Ok I feel much better now.  So I guess I am not a horrible Mother to be just b/c I have not pulled it together yet.  Thanks for the replies!  Hopefully next trimester I will be able to pull together some energy.

  • I rarely exercise, but starting next week I'll be going to a hour and a half  prenatal yoga class every week.  My thighs are starting to get saggy and I'm hoping to meet some other expectant mothers in the area.
  • 3-5 days a week at least.

I work at a university so during the work week I usually walk across campus and back to my office 1-2 times a day (about a ten minute walk each way, so I'll usually end up walking 20-40 minutes a day) and I take the stairs to and from the second floor about as many times a day.

On weekends, I've been doing pretty tame 15-20 minute yoga practices both days. This week I borrowed a DVD and tried a 20 minute salsa routine that was alright.

So yeah, I'm probably averaging 20 minutes of very easy exercise a day.

  • I do the morning dog walks 6 days of the week, fairly brisk pace for about 1.5 miles.  A friend and I try to do a short but steep uphill hike once a week after work as well.
Hoping this one stays put a little longer

  • I'm counting my 2 flights of stairs daily, and then I try to do my yoga (15-30 min) twice a week...

I also try to walk around the building three times a night. (its about a block and a half. it wakes me up)

as you can tell... not much exercise.

  • I don't.  I am a SAHM so I am up and walking around all day, but I don't do any formal exercising.  I've been so exhausted and sick during this pregnancy, I haven't felt bad about it at all.
