2 month vaccinations

my little guy goes tomorrow for his 2 month check up and vaccinations... I'm not looking forward to hearing his little cry :

I'm wondering how everyone's little ones reacted in the following hours/days? tired? Cranky? Extra or less hungry?

Re: 2 month vaccinations

  • DD was pretty much normal, she was sleepy when we first got home and a little warm that night but she did just fine. Stay calm, she only cried for a couple minutes, I nursed her as soon as the nurse was done with the shots and she seemed to forget all about it immediately. I even accidentally rubbed her thighs while I was carrying her in the Ergo that evening and I thought she might freak out but the injection sites didn't even bother her.

  • My lo had his shots today. The injections weren't bad, he stopped crying after a couple minutes. Honestly I thought it would be unbearable but it was nothing. I had a bottle ready for him and that helped. He was sleepy and extremely fussy, and refused to let me put him down. He's running a temp now of 100.4 but otherwise is acting normal just very very clingy. He's eating but not as much which the nurses line just told me is normal. I called because of his temperature which they said is ok as long as he is acting/eating/behaving normally.

Don't stress too much, not as bad as I expected. Good Luck!

  • My daughter acted normal the rest of the day shots were the am but was extra sleepy and hungry the following day. By day 2 post shots she was pretty much back to normal again. All in all not a terrible experience for either one of us.

  • The actual shots were harder on me than DS, he cried but calmed down pretty quick. He was sleepy and really fussy for the whole day and the whole following day.
  • My LO was very cranky the day of his shots.  He still slept through the night though, and was back to his normal self the next day.

  • DD got hers yesterday. She cried bad there until I nursed her afterwards. Then we had on and off crying all day (she is not a crier typically). Refusal to bf bc it put pressure on her leg. But she did take a bottle eventually. Her appt was at 10 and by the evening she was almost back to her normal self. However I don't know how today is going to go but she is still sleeping from when we put her down last night.

  • Little J screamed his head off for two minutes until he got sucking on his pacifier. Then he fell asleep during the car ride home and would have slept longer but DH insisted I change his diaper before he went down. So he woke up, I fed him a bottle and he fell asleep for three hours.

When he woke up I changed his diaper, he seemed pretty fussy, so I gave him half a bottle, then some infant Tylenol and then the rest of the bottle. He fell asleep and slept all night until 6am. The next day he was a little fussy but not too bad. His thighs (where the shots were given) didn't seem to bother him at all. They weren't red or anything.

    Henry Cavill...You're welcome!

  • My LO got his Friday. He already had a cold & was mildly cranky- stuffy nose slight fever (99.4). I asked Dr. to just give the shots and get it over with but could have opted to wait because of fever. He cried for a few seconds after the dtap, but the other shot barely phased him. Fell asleep in the car & acted perfectly normal. Throughout the day he was a little extra fussy & still had minor fever. He ate right on schedule, but rather than 6oz, only took 4 or 5oz. That lasted into Saturday, normal by Sunday AM.

One other thing I noticed was the injection site. One leg bruised, but it was literally only for a few hours & very light. The other leg (dtap site) got red & he had a hard bump under the skin. The redness was gone by Sunday night & the bump is much smaller & almost gone as of now. I could tell it hurt him to touch, so I didn't touch it! Haha! I gave him Tylenol twice on Friday, but he's been fairly normal since.  All in all, I'll take it. Much better than getting sick! :-)

  • It took him awhile to calm down afterwards, but he was pretty much normal the rest of the day. He did not get a fever.

  • Never vaccinate your baby when its sick!  It can kill them!  My son was so close to death, I had no idea as a first time mom. Docs know better and if they dont get a new one.  I know so many babies who were a little sick at their first shot and nearly died.  We arent doing that again. We are waiting to vaccinate and choosing through research.  Be carefull our babies are too precious and vaccines are mostly pushed by the pharmecutical companies.
