First tantrum

DS had his first tantrum yesterday - wow, was I not expecting it! He was banging one of his toys on the screen of the TV (which wasn't even on) and I kept telling him "no" in a firm voice, taking it away, picking him up and moving him away from the TV. He'd go right back with a different toy, until after the 4th time I pulled him away he laid face-down on the floor and started screaming. Major, red-faced, blood-curdling screams like I have never heard come out of him before. I took him to his room to distract him and he calmed down and was fine within 30 seconds, but oh boy!

Anyone else's LOs have a temper or anger-based meltdown yet? I thought we still had a little time before we got to that stage . . .

    BAAHHA! What a great moment!! LOL our lo has had a few ...DH is worried he is tuning into a spoiled brat. Funny how the personality is starting to come out!!

    I'm with pp, only one?!  DD does not like it when we take things away from her.  She screams for a couple of minutes and then goes back to playing!

    Wow, he's only had one tantrum?! When my LO is teething really bad he has a tantrum over everything! He loves to arch his back and lay on the floor screaming if we tell him no. He wants to get into everything he's not supposed to so we are saying no and redirecting a LOT. I thought I had time too but apparently this is pretty normal right around now because they can't communicate at all so they get frustrated very easily. The only way to show that frustration is through a tantrum.

    I just read a really great article about toddlers and tantrums and the reasoning behind it. Gave me a whole new perspective on things...which helps so I don't lose it!

    Do you happen to have a link to it? I'd love to read it!
