So it looks like I am switching my care to a midwife at the local university hospital. I'm unsure about how to "break up" with my OB. Do I just call & talk to the office staff to coordinate insurance and records transfer or do I need to go face to face with her?
Re: Breaking up with OB?
I'm so happy for you! I saw your post a couple weeks ago when you weren't happy with your OB but worried it was too late to switch - so glad you are!
In terms of how to break up or just to have your files transferred over - totally personal, up to your situation. In my final appt with my OB provider, I described my desire for a birth center experience and the OB said that while he can't offer that, they are a natural friendly practice and don't push meds. When I asked about a needle-free birth, he was not really able to offer that. So it wasn't a break up conversation but I thought my reasons for transferring care were pretty clear and I still think they're a great practice.
Thanks! I have met with the midwife & she sounds supportive- have one more visit this week before officially transferring care over! I'm sure my OB will be supportive, in our conversation about VBAC she offered to support the transition & I'd like to continue with her for annuals/etc.
