1st Trimester

*Follow up* What my OB said about horseback riding..

Not a big surprise but my OB said NO horseback riding! I kinda figured but have heard different things about riding in your first trimester so I asked. He said to aviod activities that cause "jarring and pounding". So as of now my saddle will stay in the tack room and I'll enjoy spending time with my horse out of the saddle :)

  • That kind of seems like a no brainer to me.

  • LOL!  I've never really considered my riding style to be jarring and pounding. If the docs say I can still ride my husband and that's not "jarring and pounding", then I say riding the horse is definitely ok!

  • I've only rode a horse 2 or 3 times my entire life and I definitely wouldn't consider riding "jarring or pounding" if you're just at a walk. Anything more than that can definitely get bouncy, but just a walk? I still wouldn't risk it because of the chance of a fall (even if the risk is small), but if the jarring and pounding is the doctor's concern, then maybe he's not too sure what it's like to be on a horse.

  • My mom rode horses with all six of her kids until 6 month. And were all... oh wait.

  • My mom rode with us too lol but back then she also smoked and didn't think anything of it.

More them anything I would just be scared of the what if's. I have a friend who miscarried from riding, just from the jarring. When I found out I was pregnant I was telling my husband I want to go for a ride, mind you I'm still in denial, and his words were "no, you'll shake the baby out!" Lol it made me laugh! I hope your horse loves to be groomed as much as mine does at this point lol

Hahaha! Yeah, there is definitely more jarring and pounding with DH then there is with my horse.
