Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Puffs, yogurt bites, water, juice

Puffs, yogurt bites, water, juice...

And table food. DD Is 6 months and just started purees 3 weeks ago but I'm wondering what's the age recommendation for starting these things. I know about BLW but I don't want to do this. I'm just wondering at what point is it recommended to introduce these things?

Re: Puffs, yogurt bites, water, juice

  • Puffs and yogurt bites I did at 7mths or so. I introduced water around 6mths in a sippy. Really just an ounce or so while my kids learned how to drink from a cup. Juice I did not introduce until my kids were around 2 and even then it was diluted. A couple of times I did do some juice for constipation, but that's it.

  • We are going to avoid juice for a few years, no real benefit and full of sugar.

We started puffs at 6 months, water at 7 months.
  • We got the ok to introduce puffs, yogurt melts & water (small amounts so she could learn to use a sippy) at 6mo.  Our ped recommends never giving juice (at any age) because of the high sugar and lack of nutritional value.  I don't know if there is an actual age recommendation for table food, we started offering when she started refusing pur?es at 9mo.

  • I started puffs at 6 months, she hated yogurt melts. Water we started at 5 per pedi's advice. We fill the cup but she will only drink a couple of sips. We have no plans for juice in the immediate future. It is full of unnecessary sugar.

  • We just started Puffs a few days ago around 8.5 months. He would have been fine with them earlier since they dissolve, but my H is really worried about choking. He's had water since 7 months in a sippy cup, but usually just plays with it.
