Monday Barf Check-in (Whine)

Anyone else toss their cookies today? After a particularly violent episode over here, I'm feeling sorry for myself (and my baby) as I try to recover and figure out what I can eat that might stay down.

This has happened a handful of times when I took my PNV with a "lighter" dinner, so I guess I'll ask for a new PNV Rx tomorrow.

So distract me, girls... am I the only one still puking?

Re: Monday Barf Check-in (Whine)

  • Not a chance! Anything I eat hot and not cold, I get sick, Hiccups, brushing my teeth, and still my big ol Hound Dog nose picks up the least pleasant scents lol. Hope it gets better for you!

Does your PNV have iron in it? If it's prescription, I assume it does.

I've had a few episodes of violent puking (very different from regular m/s) and it was when I took my iron supplement without a very full stomach (I'm finishing off some gummies - no iron - so taking the iron separately until the gummies run out). The post-iron puking was violent and insane, it was like after a night of heavy drinking.

Talk to your doctor about whether this could be the problem. Maybe you can do iron separately with meals or something. Or just make sure to take your PNV with a full meal.

Thanks for this. I never heard or read of iron as being the culprit. I've always had a hard time with any sort of multivitamin and just figured that this was an extension of that problem. The PNV is Taron -C DHA which has an iron complex of the following to total a 194% DV:

53.5 mg of Ferrous Fumarate (anhydrous)

38 mg of Polysaccharide Iron Complex

Another odd thing about this is that I've had this Rx since week 8, took them before bed with water and had no troubles up to about week 18, when they started making me so queasy I couldn't sleep.

I started taking them with dinner, and found out the hard way that they had to be 1/2 to 2/3 of the way through the meal, otherwise it all would come back up. I've tolerated them with the same meal I had tonight before, which is weird, but have no problems if I have a heavier meal with meat, carbs and fats. I'll definitely ask about taking iron separately.

It's weird how much things keep changing as the pregnancy goes along, that's for sure. Hope the rest of you feel better soon, too.

  • Still puking daily..

  • That really does seem like a lot of iron in comparison to some of the other ones out there. For the most part I have been feeling good, but this has happened enough times now that I feel like something needs to change. Each time it goes wrong, the reaction gets quicker, stronger, and just worse. I'll definitely be asking for an alternative vitamin to this one. Thanks again! :)
  • I haven't since last Tuesday...  but it's bound to happen again soon.

    Sorry- it's awful!

  • I'm getting over a cold so I've had the pleasure of waking up with a dry throat and cough, which of course brings on a violent dry heave session every morning! Ugh the beauty of it all
  • Five hours later and my throat is still sore. I'm sorry that I'm so not alone with this! Hope all this nausea is a thing of the past really soon.
  • Ahhh I'm not alone! Not that I'm glad you're barfing with me, just thought something was wrong with me (FTM). Yes still throwing up, even having food aversions :( When the hell are we supposed to start feeling better?

  • Still vomiting about once a week or have major "wretching" without anything coming up. Brushing my teeth is the worst...I get nausea or feel like vomiting almost every day after I brush:
