July 2013 Moms

Please remind me about movement...

Baby has been active the past week or so - some strong kicks at least once throughout the day...

But he's been quiet since yesterday - just little bitty flutters again... And a fall on the ice on Saturday - though I know I landed safely on my butt and wrist - has me nervous.

And my brain's also wondering if the great BM I finally had yesterday gave him more room to move, so I'm feeling him less?!

Someone remind me how movement can come and go and not regular for a few more weeks!!!

Re: Please remind me about movement...

  • Its not supposed to be a concern until 28 weeks and beyond. Right now intermittent movement is going to be 100% normal. Also, remember it depends on which way baby is facing (if he/she is facing your back it might be harder to feel the movements). Also, the placement of your placenta matters too.

Lastly, babies have lazy days too. Don't freak! I know its hard not to, but try not to.

I'm a few weeks farther along than you, and I don't have any feeling of regular movement yet. I had a mini freakout this morning, because it seems like EVERYBODY is feeling their baby regularly. But I was reassured that it is  totally normal at this point, and it depends on so many factors.

  • i know how you feel. i have felt our little one every for most of the day for about 2 weeks now and the last 2 days i hadnt felt her much at all and i was very worried as well, even tho i know that its normal to not feel the baby move all the time, i still am worried lol
  • I am 21 weeks, 2 days and notice the same thing. Some days I feel tons and others, nothing. But I had my anatomy scan Friday and, although I couldn't feel it, baby was moving like crazy. He was facing my back which may have something to do with it.

  • Movement definitely comes and goes for me.  Some days I wonder what kind of dance party she has going on in there and other days it seems like she's taking a day long nap.
  • Mobil bumping so I don't know how far along you are. I'm 23 weeks and was just reading that around this time baby is sleeping for 12 to 14 hours at a time. No worries. I'm sure everything is just fine.

  • I know all of this... Bt it still worries me. I had a week or so of very regular movement and the last two days have been nearly silent. I keep reminding myself it's too early.

You and I are due at the same time, and a couple of days ago my doctor told me that they don't expect to see regular movement for another month.  I described very similar movement to yours (sometimes strong, sometimes I'm not even sure I'm feeling him for days), and she said "that's what we expect to see right now.  He's still very small."  Obviously I've been getting nervous about this too, but I think it's ok!
