Pregnant after a Loss

Sex question...

So yesterday DH and I had sex for the first time since we conceived in November.  Earlier on, DH was nervous because of our losses and I was way, way too sick to think about sex.  My question is, is it normal for sex to be somewhat uncomfortable/painful during PG?  I was properly lubricated and excited for sex until we started doing it and then it was too uncomfortable to really enjoy it.  Has anyone found a way to make it less painful?  Any positions that are better than others?

Re: Sex question...

  • The simple fact that you haven't had sex since November might make it uncomfortable in itself, but sex was quite uncomfortable for me. When I could have sex, I'd have to prop my hips up with pillows to change the angle so it was more comfortable. Laying flat on my back made things very uncomfortable. I also found any position where I could be in control helped, because I could adjust myself for comfort!

  • I know it feels very different for me.  It doesn't really hurt, but it's definitely not as enjoyable as it used to be.  The only position we've found that really works is to lay on our sides... like spooning.  Even that really doesn't "do it" for me, but it's certainly the most comfortable.  Definitely use plenty of lube.

This exactly!  If you're in control, it helps so much!

  • Your lady parts are all wonky right now due to hormones and add in how long it's been, I'm not surprised it wasn't comfortable.

  • Thanks ladies! I expected it to be a bit different, but didn't realize it wouldn't really be any fun! Maybe next time we'll try a different position to see if it helps any.

  • Doggie style and a pillow underneath my hips is working the best for us right now. It is different, but still enjoyable, except for the fact that the babies strongest and most painful movement happens immediately after orgasm.
