Advanced or not?

Ok, I don't know how to make a link clicky, but if you are bored, watch this youtube video of a little girl talking about a movie and comment on how advanced this is for her age.  You will help settle an argument between me and my husband.  Is this how most twenty seven month olds talk or not?

The video is called Amelia's synopsis of Bedtime for Frances

Re: Advanced or not?

  • All the little girls in DS's class at daycare have awesome vocabs and can carry on full conversations, relay messages, recap stories, etc. I claim higher end of average for a girl. The boys are much harder to understand for sure. My kid, on the other hand, isn't even stringing two words together yet! (Yes, we see a SLP.)

  • My son speaks like that and carries conversations like that. I never think if him as being advanced though, he's just verbal. The other kids his age will catch up and some of them are working on things he is not mastering yet like potty training...
  • My daughter has a similar vocabulary and I think her speech is clearer than the little girl in the video. She will have long conversations and recap stories, but I do think that the length that the little girl spoke about one book was quite long for her age.

  • Ditto what the others have said - advanced but not unheard of.
  • She sounds like DD did at that age... whether or not that's advanced I have no idea.
