Evening Primrose Oil

I'm scheduled to be induced due to GD in less than two weeks and am interested in taking EPO. I ran it by one of the doctors in my practice last week who kind of shook it off but didn't say yes or no. Anyone start taking it without an okay from their doctor, if si how much did you take?

Re: Evening Primrose Oil

  • It depends on the directions of the bottle. My dr says it can't hurt. I take one pill at breakfast, one at lunch and insert one vaginally at bed time. Good luck!

  • I started taking EPO capsules orally about a week ago. I didn't consult with my dr. I've had a completely normal pregnancy. I am 38 weeks today. At my last appt I hadn't dropped yet, cervix was still pretty thick, and only dilated to a 1cm. I figure it's all natural and I'm not going to overdo it, but from everything I've read, it can't hurt. Ultimately your body is going to go into labor when it's ready. All the EPO does is make your cervix more favorable and release more progesterone. I figure as long as it doesn't make me have any weird side effects, all systems go. I have a lot of friends who have used it and swear by it. I'm a little weary about inserting it vaginally though, so I'm sticking to orally!
