When people told me to avoid keeping the house quiet when Allison was a baby I didn't get it. Now I do. The kid wakes up to every.single.noise.
Next time (if there is a next time!) I will run the vacuum, dishwasher, hair dryer and anything else I can think of when the baby is napping! I can't have two kids who wake up to a pin dropping.
Re: Now I get it...
If it helps, Leo slept in the dining room for the first 3 months of life (I have an open floor plan so it's exposed to the kitchen and living room). I cooked, played music, the dog barked, ran the vacuum, etc, etc, etc.... and I still have a light sleeper
.
Around 4 months he just wouldn't sleep like that anymore and to this day he needs to be in a dark room with white noise. I'm not convinced that heavy sleepers can be trained because I tried SO hard and it still didn't work.

Everyone use to tell us that too but at the time we never wanted to risk walking up a sleeping baby!
