Had my first growth US last night - 33 wks

It went really well, the tech was able to get all the measurements in literally ten minutes. The baby's position was excellent - head down face down - and nothing was blocked. 

The Dr came in and re-did all the measurements and said every single measurement was within 5 days of my EDD - which is awesome - and that the baby's weight is 4 lbs 14 oz - 34th percentile. I know these are notoriously off - but I am encouraged that they are not going to force RCS due to big baby - so far! I have another growth and position scan on 4/05.

    Are you required to have growth US?  I didn't have any with #2, even though #1 was on the larger side.

    Yes - it is my doctors' policy for VBAC. I had one with my daughter but it was ordered after I was measuring a few weeks ahead. Ended up I had polyhydramnios (mild) and baby's size was fine. She was 8 lbs 3 oz.

    Yep, this. If your first baby was average size, and you don't have GD, then it doesn't seem like something to worry about.

    DS1 - Feb 2008

    DS2 - Oct 2010 (my VBAC baby!)

    Yep, this. If your first baby was average size, and you don't have GD, then it doesn't seem like something to worry about.

     

    It is required. If I don't do the growth U/S they will not allow VBAC. My practice has lots of rules - they will not induce at all, I have to have constant (not wireless) monitoring. They do not make it easy.  I live in NJ - The CS capital of the US.
