Disneyland hotel recommendations

Hello!  We are headed to California in two weeks for my brother's wedding, and will be spending a day at Disneyland afterwards.  Anyone have a recommendation for a hotel in the area that is kid-friendly and reasonably priced?

So excited to take DD there. We have a cute Minnie outfit and are looking forward to spending time in sunny California!

Edit: Also, I think several ladies have taken their kiddos to Disney.  Any recommendations of things we should definitely do or avoid?  Thanks!

Re: Disneyland hotel recommendations

  • We went today.  I live so close I won't be any help with hotels.  But my friends always stay at the Best Western (free bfast).

Go to Fantasyland first.  Skip Mr Toads Wild Ride, it ends with you going through hell.  Very scary!  Timothy loves Dumbo, Small World and the Pooh  Bear ride.

He tolerated Jungle Cruise, Pirates and Haunted House.  We get there right when they open.  The lines are short and we get most rides in before his a.m. nap.

I bring a snack size bags of treats.   It distracts them while they wait.

Have fun we bought annual passes so we go every Sunday.

  • I went today as well (well to CA Adventure). I have an annual pass and live locally, so I'm not much help with hotels either, but some tips about the park...

If you're interested in doing adult rides, Disneyland has a policy where you and whoever you're with can wait in line with the baby, then you ride solo and trade off holding the baby while the other rides. So the rollercoasters are definitely still an option (if you do that, get a Fast Pass for Space Mountain early on because those disappear quickly and the line is long otherwise).

I second going early if you can. It fills up later in the afternoon so you can get a lot done in the mornings.

If you definitely want to meet Mickey or Minnie head to their houses in Toon Town. You walk through the house back to meet them. My little guy loved looking at everything in the house and then in the end you're guaranteed a little visit with them.

Not sure how brave your baby is, but we found most of the rides are relatively baby friendly for our guy. Leo loved Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, Jungle Cruise, Small World, Teacups... basically anything I thought would be too "scary" for him plus the guaranteed baby friendly ones.

Have fun!  It's so worth it to see their faces light up while you're there.

  • Thanks for the great advice, ladies!  I appreciate it!

Glad to hear you both had a fun day with your families there today.  :)
