I prefer Matilda (/ma-TIL-duh/) over Mathilde (/ma-TEELD/), but really like both.

I prefer Tillie as a nn.

I suppose Mathilde would be a rough name to grow up with anyway. No one would ever guess how to say it right or spell it right.

  • I strongly prefer Matilda.
  • Mathilde is a family name for DH, so we're considering it. If we do use it, we will probably go with Matilda, just for ease of pronunciation and spelling his great grandmother and her mother used both spellings after coming to America.

    Same here.

  • I like Matilda nn Tilda (like Tilda Swinton, although I think her full name includes the h), or Mathilde nn Tilde

I also like nn Tillie for any spelling.

Augustus is fantastic! (but makes me sad b/c of John Green)

  • Matilda. I like Tilde.

  • I love both Matilda and Mathilde. I wouldn't do Mathilda. Tilde is okay, I prefer Tillie. I'd probably go with Matilda.
